Ratchet strap Roundup

Post by 1979bettywhite »

So I know all you smart guys have an answer for this.

How do you guys store your ratchet straps? Both at home and in your ride?

They seem to be one of the harder things to keep neat and uncluttered with all their hooks, straps, ratchets etc.

Mine stay in a cloth bag. I try to wrap each strap up the best I can but they always seem to unravel or get tangled in the bag.

I know you guys have some unique ways to store them!

Same here. Over time, I collect strong bags to hold them. I like to roll them up and tie them with a Velcro strap but I typically just throw them in the back so I "can store it later". Funny but "later" never comes and I wind up untangling the mess to get one.

I keep the giant industrial twist ties that hold them to the packaging and secure them with those after I roll them up neatly.

I coil each one up and wrap a short bungee around the bundle. Tow strap too.

What I do is the same thing as you, except I add a bunch of bungie cords to the mix. This makes it WAY easier! You just look at the mess, and then buying new ones when you need them seems much more reasonable. :P

Haha! The only reason that bag was on my garage floor for that picture is that it finally got too fat to fit under the back seat of my ZJ.

I use zip ties to keep them looking good... when they're not in the bag like Redone.

I roll up the ratchet and the strap part separately and tape them up with electric tape.

I throw mine in a box with my tow ropes and jumper cables , shake it up, take it inside and role it down the stairs 9 or 10 times.
It's no fun unless you have to cuss.
