Micro ATX. Intel 1151 socket, has M.2 slots, built in graphics but one PCI-e slot if I want a video card, i can run 2 8 gig sticks (yes i see that its only 2133), the only issue I'm seeing is it has no wifi, so I'd need an external option for that since i don't have an Ethernet cable available in my office and I'm too afraid to go under my house and run one, though that is a definite option. I see that it has only 1 fan port, but that can be split.

thoughts?

Strange, so few mATX have wifi (after a quick search, unless you go way up in price).

As for that board, its a bit strange. Most mATX boards have two PCI-E slots. That one only has one, which basically makes it a larger ITX board.

This is a superior board: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6813157736

But it does cost more. I have become a big fan of Asrock boards, they used to be part of ASUS before being spun off. Also, none of the H series boards can overclock. So if you ever want to get a K series CPU, you will want a Z series board.

Okey.

So, if I go with this here processor:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... gnorebbr=1

Think i should get an upgraded heatsink and fan?

Well, if you go with a K, you need a different motherboard. The one I suggested would be fine with your previous non-K chip. Yes the K will work on the H mobo, but you cant overclock on H mobos.

Also, I should have noticed this earlier, but a 750W PSU is way to large. The PSU will be less efficient because it doesn't have enough load to get into its sweet spot. Thats for running multiple video cards. A 500W is plenty.

Here is a 550 that is fully modular, and is 80 Gold rated (same price as the bronze 750): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6817438049

oh great.

As far as overclocking, I personally will never do that manually. I dont know if there are any automatic ways to do so....

Is there a different chip you'd suggest? I dont know the different between K and H and whatnot.

Good to know on the power supply.

i just finished pricing, and when I order an LG 2k 25" ultra wide monitor and (2) case fans on amazon, I'll be right at $1225 including windows. Almost $300 of that is monitor and windows, so the hardware package is $900.

Most modern "gaming" motherboards have built in overclocking, but your price will go up another 100-150.

This is the fastest non-K series chip: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6819117727

They are a bit cheaper than the K series chips. And with no need to overclock, you will be fine with this.

Oh, and just so you are aware, that case is wider than a normal tower case. But is way shorter, and they cool well.

Wow, that's a lot to spend on a CPU.

If this were for me, I would decide on how much I wanted to spend on a CPU, then pick a MB to go with my selection. For example, if I wanted to spend $200 or less, I would maybe pick this CPU https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6819117730 and choose a MB to go with it.

Built in graphics... if i hear that word again im going to commit suicide.. seriously.. Intels BUILT in graphics is about equal to my 15 year old GPU hanging on my wall in my room..

Give yourself a bone and at least buy a mid range AMD graphics card for $150, if you are going with integrated graphics you dont need to bother with 16gb of ram... might as well get 8gb then...

No SSD because with SSD you cant really get them with large capacities for good prices, so you need a good sized HDD over 1 small SSD, meh i have 2 big HDD'S and my OS on the SSD but for you with your budget i picked the WD black 2TB drive. All of this is 920$, you get AMD's new ryzen cpu, you get DDR4, and a good video card with 16gb of memory and a good sized HDD.

If you want something in a micro ATX case i can tinker the build for you

Cram it into a micro ATX and you've got a deal lol. I've always been an AMD guy but now a days I'm like eh whatevs.

Also, i needa buy windows. I am currently sitting at $1015 for all hardware and windows. So, get that bad boy into this case and include windows for $1015 and I'll pull the trigger.

No SSD? The single largest increase in speed in years? That system would feel incredibly slow with a spinner drive.

The system we already have built has an SSD and a spinner.

Also, Intels current integrated graphics are not slow, there is literally zero difference except in gaming, which he isn't building this for. And as I said, he can add a discrete GPU down the road. Not sure what your problem is, or why you are feeling you need to comment the way you are. The system he already has listed is fine, and your build is missing some items. Like a DVD burner and Windows.

Seeing as he has a budget i had to choose either a 250gb SSD for $100 or a 2TB HDD for 100$.. What would you pick ? considering 1 video game today is 40-50gb in size i chose to get more space. Also maybe because Intels integrated graphics are junk ? You complain about an SSD but you wonder why i bash my head at integrated graphics ? Hell live with the WD black and for $100 more down the road he can integrate an SSD. If it were my PC id get the HDD space and a dedicated GPU over a faster HDD and a junk intel gpu.

Point out my problem because im confused at your comment ? I simply said if i hear integrated graphics one more time ima go crazy. Maybe the suicide joke was too much, instead i should have picard face palmed

As for windows,if he has W7 already he can just move his HDD to his new System and get an SSD instead, then upgrade to windows 10 if he wishes and chose the SSD as the main drive for the installation .

DVD burners are cheap $20 forgive me if i forgot about that, i havent used a DVD in like 3 years now

As someone who builds around 30 medium to high end PCs every month I can say the Integrated Graphics have come a long way in the last few years.
I benchmarked an I7 4660K against an AMD F9370 with a R9-270x recently and the FPS difference was insignificant. That says a lot for Intel's embedded graphics.

Like anything else, the purpose of the machine dictates the components...and the cost.

I think I am going to be more than fine running integrated. I honestly don't plan to game. With some video editing (only editing DSLR not 4K or anything) and graphic design work being the most resource intensive uses it should be fine. If I decide to upgrade later I can always drop a card in.

Well, I want to thank you all for your help and advice!

I went with the non-k, and I got us down to $988 all in, except a monitor. I'm going to order an ultra wide 25" LG 2k monitor for about $180, so this puts us at $1163 all in for the build.

Thanks so much! It was a learning experience to get back into all this stuff.
