Difference between "Square" and "Round" liftgate motors?

Post by icaerus »

I have an early dual spring liftgate assembly in my 1975 cherokee. The motor was missing so I picked up one from a friend. Unfortunately it's a newer round motor. I was considering cutting the edge of the motor housing where the screw is at to hold the worm gear cover in place. However it appears that the gear is the wrong pitch... Can anyone confirm for me?

TL;DR- Is the gear pitch different between the early FSJs and the later??

Thanks

This belongs in the tech forum. It will ge better exposure there. Pretty much anything related to our full size Jeeps goes there.
