Ok, despite a few self induced medical mishaps to my body, Em nailed the trail to the Aliso Springs camp site on the first try based on our friend Melissa's notes from the last trip there.

We will be only 9.2 miles off off pavement, it just under 2.5 hours from Broadway & Kolb to get to the camp site. No need to rush there although Em and I may go early to secure it.

I'll get the kmz file cleaned up and posted while waiting for my Dr appointment in the morning.

Thanks Flint, I will survive this.

Here is the kmz file from the tracks recorded (it's almost identical to the one I created previously).
http://www.ttsfabworks.com/maps/GardnerSawmillAlsio.kmz

There are many maps online relating to Gardner Canyon, below is the one I found with the best (and least confusing) FR numbers.

Image

Here is the GE screen shot of the tracks.

Image

When you turn right/west off of Highway 83 onto FR92 there is a nice wide pullout.

Image

Just up FR92 is the sign/turn to Kentucky Camp, you want to stay to the left on FR92 heading west into Gardner canyon.

Image

Staying on FR92 you will pass several primitive camp sites and a large ranch (actually a Monastery) on the left/south side of the road, about a mile after that there will be this camping area on the left/south.

Image

Real quick after that is the turn, it's on the right/north side, Aliso Spring is the destination. You will be on FR4084 for the remainder of the trail.

Image

There are not too many choices to make, this one is clearly marked, those are trailhead directions. You head to the right towards Sawmill Trail.

Image

I didn't get a pic of the next turn, it has been previously marked but the signs are down (they are on the ground).
Essentially it's just a Y, left to stay on FR4084, right is FR4084A. FR4084A is the east side of Sawmill Canyon, looks doable but also looks abandonded.

You will climb to the ridge on the west side of Sawmill Canyon, FR4084 follows the ridge, thru a few gulleys and dead ends at Alsio Spring.

Image

That's it, simple in and out, no washouts as of last weekend (we are hoping for rain big time).
There are some harder areas there to do like FR4084A and FR4113 but this is probably not the trip for them.

Edited because I don't know left/right/east/west :banghead:

I used to hunt in that area and I must say it is PRETTY up there especially if the stream is running. Good trails up there driven them a few times in the Ram.

Looks like Shauna and I will make it for the campout but not the BBQ. Her birthday is Monday June 3rd. And I have something planned for Sunday afternoon. But hey, alittle is better than none at all. :)

We are sooo looking forward to meeting up! The rains here have put a damper on getting the J10 tanks swapped. Im hoping to still get it done before we take off. If not we'll be dragging the Cherokee. We'll be bringing some stuff y'all may need or want as well.

Details are still changing here also, dont look like we'll be bringing the Jeeps, and might get a room so the wife can stay cool, if she comes. If she gets too hot it aggravates her condition. Will be heading out early Sat.

I cant believe I'm actually going to make one of these...

Sorry it's taken so long to get any updates.
With a smaller group this year,We would like to host the meet and greet at the house.Plenty of room to hang out and grill.
What time would every one like to meet Saturday to head out to Gardner Canyon.
One week away and I'm ready.

Looks like Bob has listed attendees on the very first post. We are flexible with all things between these events: We drive down Friday and drive home Monday, leaving in the mornings. :fsj:

I'm looking to leave Sat morn (work until 5 pm Fri), but do not want to hold up the trail run. I have other things I can do until y'all get back. Might come out to the camp site in the evening to hang out. Will be heading back Sun night after the M&G.

Do I need to bring anything?

Sounds fine to me.
You have major store close so getting last minute items is no big deal.
What would you like us to bring?

We are ready no matter what rig we take.
Em and I were sort of thinking of heading down to Gardner pretty early.
A: To secure the camp site.
B: Just to get the heck out of this city.
If we do go before other folks we can tag the trail with streamers for folks coming later.

Since we have fire restrictions in place already we will be bringing the trailer to haul the grill (unless we wind up in the Q, the grill will fit in that) that way folks can cook when they want and we don't get hassled over having a fire.
We could also leave the grill at your place if you think we my need two for the M&G.
