Denver peeps, I need used oil filters

Post by REDONE »

I know we go through this every couple years, but oil filter manufacturers keep changing hands and changing designs, making everything learned from the last time moot again. It's time to cut open the current offerings and see what's the best of the best, what's good enough, and what we should all stay away from (for the next year or two, when it will be time to do it all again).

I need a variety of common filter brands that we use in our V8 FSJs. I already have a Wix that's coming off next oil change, but would like to cut open a current version of the following:
Fram
STP
K&N
Mopar
Napa (Gold, Silver, whatever)
ACDelco
Motorcraft
Microguard
Supertech
Purolator
Any other brand of filter you run on your AMC V8!

Obviously, I'm looking for your used filters in the not too distant future, whether you're still sitting on the one you haven't recycled yet or you have an oil change planned soon.
As I said, the manufacturers keep changing hands, house brands keep changing suppliers, so it's time to cut them all open and see what's what again. I'll post up what I find with tons of pics.
79 J-10 (Honcho Mucho) KE0LSU
304/Performance Fuel Injection TBI/MTA1/SP2P/Magnum rockers
T18/D20/D44s&4.10s/33" Mud Claws
Grizzly Locker Rear
4" front spring drop, 5" rear shackle flip
Chevy style HEI (ECM controlled)
Dolphin "Shark" gauges in a fancy homemade oak bezel
3/4 resto, rotting faster than I've been fixing it.

Gah. I just pitched an ACDelco a couple of weeks ago. :(

I have nothing but Wix on the shelf.

Hey Redone I have an STP filter that fits the Honcho and a Toyota OEM filter that fits LX450/LX470 here at my shop on Storm Mountain. You are welcome to come up and get them and check out the place.

I think I can get a microguard, and a basic white Wix a larger filter for metric thread application AMC'S. I'll save my break in filters for you to dissect whatever they end up being.
