Las Cruces 'wheeling March 17-19 2017

Post by AwesomeJ10 »

Looks like there are several FSJ folks planning a 'wheeling trip down to Las Cruces NM. March 17-19 2017

I'm planning on towing the Honcho down there and doing some good rock crawling.

Tad has coordinated with the Las Cruces KOA and that is where we are all camping.

Who else is in? :fsj: :fsj:

I'm disappointed in the lack of interest in this event!!!

Although I think many of the folks who are coming are no longer on this site...

I went about 7 years ago and had a blast. Great folks, trails, and fun. Wish i had a capable (i.e. running) FSJ as I'd love to go again someday.

Blake,
I updated the title to reflect the date change.
Thanks,
Tad

Some of us are booked into the KOA for the night of the 16th so we can get a good full Friday and Saturday on the trails.

If you are interested in doing this here is how it works.
Leah Simpson has been very good to us over the years and we have an entire section of the KOA locked down and I think there is one cabin left available.

Phone: 575-526-6555
(calling the KOA 800 number will not work)

You must use my name (Tad Strickland) to reserve a site in our reserved area.

Also please note this is not a FSJ only event, although it did start that way in 2008 rigs can change.
Good people, good times.

Interesting. I will put this down on my calendar. Still just a 'maybe', it's just a 6 hour drive, so better than Ouray. Tad, I think you said this is different than Ouray. More difficult trails and possibilities of body damage.

Yeah, this is a rock crawling trip. Body damage is definitely possible. At least on the trails we did back in 2012. Lots of steep/off camber stuff too. Carbs do great on that stuff! ;)

If we start pushing the Pushmobile this Thursday we should be there by March 16th before dark.

I will be more interested in this once I get the powertrain swapped. My wife has family in Las Cruces so she would have something to do which makes it more logistically possible than other trips.

Hey Bigun, I was but that was then and this is now and had you in mind. I cancelled Cruces 2 weeks ago. Got some medical stuff to attend to instead. My heart periodically goes into misfire just like damm Prestolite ignition system then it over revs to 180. Screwy stuff. I get to see Elctrocardiologist in Farmington on Friday.

Hey I talked it over with Craig we would have to do some excavation, but he thinks there is a Mallory electronic ignition stuffed away that he is sure we could convert to work, just say the word! :D
Sorry to hear your having problems it seems it is catching up with all of us, they seem to think I have to many red blood cells. I have two more blood draws this summer before they are sure.
Hang in there brother we're all pulling for you!

HaHa! I might take you up on that Mallory Bigun. I had my go with 3 different Jacobs systems and afraid I would end up in the same boat as before. ;)
