By SRT, do you mean a Hemi from a Challenger or the like?

I only know of one Hemi powered FSJ, and it was done by Jeep for SEMA a few years ago.

But lot of people that have done GM 5.3 and 6.0 swaps.

Noticed you put this in diesel swaps?

Yes In looking at the 6.1 or an v8
I also have a straight 6 so I could go with a stroker
I just want some input on what people have v8 wise
Also I did not notice at first now I do sorry about that I was reading diesels cause I was thinking about diesel swap also

There is a HUGE cost difference between going with an i6 and a modern V8. So I think first you need to decide what you are willing to spend.

I am installing a GM 8.1 L18 into the honcho. I can tell you that it's pretty expensive (and I'm already running a GM NV4500)

buy a stock locked FJ80 and 'wheel the crap out of it?

LOL I dunno anything about the SRT stuff, but I can tell you that messing with the newer GM vortec has been pretty cool for me. I think that if I had it to do over again, I would get the GM 6.0 instead of the big @$$ 8.1. But then again, I am not done with the swap yet.

Your gonna spend 7 grand on an engine and then bolt it to a 3 speed non OD tranny? Seems to me that you are getting such a nice engine that you would want to have OD.

Well, you are going to have to buy an adapter to mount that chrysler engine to a TH400.

Personally I would not buy that engine for a Jeep. Its RPM range wont be well suited for it.

Also, MSD's EFI system works better than the FAST one.

If you can do a modern drive train swap, with engine and transmission for less than the price of that engine alone.

But will it have the power ? I'm going after that motor for the power cause all it is is a 360 bored over I mean the jeeps use to come with a 401 and the motor is dressed and the reason I was gonna go with the th400 is because it can withstand the power but I'm still trying to decide the transmission I'm by set on the th400 so any suggestions prefer automatic and any ideas how to do a floor shifter for an automatic

The engine in the link is a chrysler 360. Jeeps came with AMC 360's. Entirely different engines. There are 4L60E's that will take 800hp all day. So really I say go with a 4sp. The engine linked has lots of peak power, but it chances are the power is up high, not in low to mid range. Also, as a side note, you will blow the rear ring and pinion all over the HWY with that engine. So if you go with something that has that kind of power, be sure to factor in axle upgrades to hold that power.

I looked into this, and buying a new crate engine and rebuilding a 4L80 to put behind it ended up being cheaper than putting a newer hemi/five speed setup in.

And less of a hassle as well.

I think you'd be really happy with a 5.3 or 6.0

how much power do you think you need? our jeeps are light, a 5.3 take out with a stock tune makes plenty of power. Mines much faster than my 2014 ford raptor.

If you want more power look at schwanke for a built ls engine. I had him build one for my jeepster 410hp 430tq from a 5.3, has aftermarket rods, pistons, crank and is a 5.7 now.
90 Fsj. 5.3, 4l65,241. 4" lift, Custom valved Bilstien 5125 Shocks, Dakota Digital Dash, Bjs Radiator, Bjs aluminum tank,Viper remote start, power door locks, one touch rear window. Ac, Cruise, tow haul all work as they should. Fully restored oem wheels.
