I didn't always like TBI...

Post by AwesomeJ10 »

I thought the old IFSJA site was actually dead, but apparently not. I have not logged into that site for years, but I received a notification for a thread that I was subscribed too: http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?p=1629541

The point of THIS thread is simple: I used to not like TBI cause I had a couple of bad experiences and I thought the trust old Holley TA carb was working just fine.

A year after I posted those comments, I got bored and decided to try TBI again. Now I'm a HUGE fan. Think about that...

lol

no, I think that with all the TBI hating that goes on, it's interesting that even myself used to be a bit of a TBI hater because I had a couple of bad experiences.

I took the time to learn and understand it, now I can't get enough.

I love the TBI in my 78 and would never remove it for a carburetor.

However, I bought a 2010 Chevy 2500HD crewcab 4x4 with a 6.0/6spd in September. After two months driving the truck, I can't wait to yank the TBI 360 and drop an LS in the bay. It starts instantly, and the power is impressive especially in that big A$$ heavy truck. I was looking at 1500's with a 5.3 but the 2500 looked new and I was already leaning towards a 6.0 (LQ9) and 6spd for the Jeep. I am ready to buy HPTuner and start playing, hopefully with the time comes, I can take care of the basic tweaks needed to disable cats and vats to run an LS, change tire sizes and adjust torque management.

I am driving the Jeep at least once a week and it starts every time, TBI works and works well.
