MPFI questions

Post by lil jeep mec »

im planning on building a twin turbo MPFI AMC 360. Im curious right now because i may have the chance to get a decent deal on a used edelbrock mpfi off a 360 in a cj5 that only had about 10 hours before it lost a couple bearings and now has about .5in of crank end play. So would this work with a boosted engine? If not are there Any mpfi's that will? Im not afraid to tackle a project like this i just want some info to think about before i jump into it. I know i couldnt run a map sensor it would have to be MAF right?
Thanks for any advise!

This would be the first place to start looking. Lots of great info, and the guys seem to be down to earth.

I do know that you will either need to teach yourself tuning, or find someone that does it. ;)

Yanno...that sounds like a cool build, twin snails and all, but have you considered O-Ringing the block and using dead soft copper to prevent head gasket failure?

I built an 8.2:1 360 with a 6-71 Supercharger and it kept blowing gaskets till I wire O-Ringed the deck Nitro-Methane-Top-Fuel-Hemi-style. I know it was underdriven around 25% but can't recall the boost pressures offhand, but think 15 PSI was the range. I would imagine two hair dryers spooled up would raise pressures beyond that.

Just adding my 2 cents.

If rhey were not waste gated yes they would be, its getting studs all through the motor, and its going to have external waste gates set at 8 for starters. If i blow head gaskets ill o ting it, my 12v cummins holds 42psi with the stock head gasket and retorqued bolts haha. I know completely different. Its going to have 230/230 at .050, .521/.521 lift from lunati cams. Custom grind

You will need to use a 3 bar MAP sensor, not a MAF.
1977 Cherokee S, Ford 5.0, 5 speed, BW 1356, 33 x 10.50 BFG's. No longer my DD.
2007 Mercury Milan, 2.3L, 5-speed, now my DD. 29 mpg average.
