Memory address? Like the 'ComPort' 3 thing?

I wonder if my chip took a BEEP when I burned it? I knew I shoulda ordered a couple more when I got the Burn2.

W/ Burn1 sometimes you need to select the chip type and correct the memory addreses in flash&burn software if it doesn't autodetect correctly.
Cannot speak for the Burn2 as I don't have/use one.

I've never had a chip fail, and all of mine are 9yrs old. They've all been burned many many times, some have even been soldered/unsoldered.

Not saying your chip isn't bad, but in my experience pretty unlikely.

I'll plug in the factory chip and whatnot when I get home to make sure the PCM isn't bad. Then maybe I'll try burning a stock program onto the chip to see if that helps. I suppose it's possible the burn got corrupted? I saved the file as its own entity before I messed with it though, last night. Frustrating...

Yep, that's why I do this...

No adapters/chip "pulling" etc., just plug in my flash-able memcal to the pcm and done.

I use LED light for the check engine light.

You provide 12+ to the light at all time. The ECM provides ground to it when the light needs to come on.

Alright, I got a bulb hooked up between power and the ground output for the SES. Key on, bulb is on. It never shuts off.

I jump the Diagnostic Test pin (B or A14) and System ground on the DLC and still the bulb stays on steady. No flashing at all. Am I doing this correctly?

Also, I took the PCM board out of the box and everything looks ok. I thought maybe it got some moisture in it when it snowed Thursday but I drove it into work that day. We're left, I feel like, either a couple of corrupt files, a failed PCM (which was working great Thursday) or a failed chip/adaptor.

Again, Tuner Pro detects the cable just fine. I just can't connect. High idle, runs crappy at low RPM but gets better at high RPM.

Hook up an SES light already, and pull the codes?
If you can't pull codes then pcm or wiring issue.
If you can pull codes you're probably going to see "51"

You're chasing your tail...if the chip doesn't give the pcm a valid .bin the pcm won't connect via TunerPro.

EDIT: didn't see post about hooking up light... :P

If you can't pull codes probably bad computer/bad wiring/bad chip adapter?
What's it do with a stock memcal installed?

Sorry for the delay. Had to eat dinner and hang out with my baby boy. :D

Installed the stock memcal (I knew I hoarded for a reason) and the truck runs fan-BEEPING-tastic. I'm guessing the chip went tits up. I've got an email into Moates asking the likelihood, but they're closed for the holiday. Are the 27SF512 chips available locally?

Like I said above unlikely.

Use flash & burn software load the .bin you flashed into buffer then compare to chip.
I bet they don't match.

If they do, then problem is somewhere else?

If they don't burn it again/compare it again.
If they now match try reinstall chip.

I always do a compare after burn. ~5% they don't match.
My burn1 is old and flakey though and missin' case too.
That and my ancient laptop i use is a POS.

EDIT: don't know if this will help you or not?
http://support.moates.net/troubleshooting-burn1burn2/

Step 8 is the address stuff I was talking about. Sometimes mine needs to be adjusted because it doesn't autodetect properly.
~1 out of 30 burns it'll not have the correct offsets.

Yes, if you actually find that yours is bad, then you can come up here and get one from me. But I doubt it's actually bad.

I may be able to dig up a few here. I won't be needing them with my MPFI system.

Do you need them before Turkey Day? I'm semi-available tomorrow. PM me. I don't think I have your #. Or you can text Blake and he can give it to you.

Oh, and you CAN fry a chip and fry it FAST if you install it backwards and turn the system on. AMHIK. :-(

Thanks, guys! I went through the setup procedure Babywag linked to and well try that.

I erased it and burned the test bin onto it and confirmed it matches the file in the buffer. I'm gonna find an unmolested $0D file to burn onto the chip this weekend. Honestly, I'd like an exact copy of the stock file. :)

However, I did flip the chip around backwards once. Oops. Not that it made much difference in how it ran.

I don't need it for a few days. You guys free this weekend? I'm thinking of getting some heated seats for the Cherokee at the yard.

gearhead efi has several to choose from

No real need to go back to stock???
If chip & adapter are working re-burn the .bin you were using.
Didn't you already do some tuning?

Yeah, I did a lot of tuning with Blake's Autoprom in the spring. This is the first I've used the Burn2 though. I tried burning the old bin back onto the chip yesterday a couple different times, no change. The chip always lined up with what was in the buffer and I was always erasing the chip and confirming it.

Yeah, when I go to download a bin from gearhead it downloads it as a php and not a bin.

I need a couple of small things from the yard. The website says they are open everyday except Thanks Giving, Christmas and New Years. http://www.upullandpay.com/denver/home

So I'm up for going on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

When would everyone like to meet up at the yard?
