Differences in Wagoneer tanks?

Post by PUDS »

Is one poly and one steel? One has combined sender/pickup and the other separate? Am I totally off? Just looking for options for fuel pumps and thinking of retrofitting stock unit to add fuel pump for new Fitech.

Most importantly, they are entirely different shapes. Putting a 79 and older into an 80+ wont work. 80+ into an 79 and older does work with some mods.

Old owner replied to me and said it's a new replacement poly tank. Does that mean it's got a single sending/pickup unit or the separate units?

Year? Pretty sure the only supplier of these tanks is MTS, and they list what they make on their web site. http://www.mtscompany.com/J-truck.htm They make two styles, with both pictured on their web site. Both have separate pickup and sending unit holes. They do not make a tank for '80-up, presumably because the '80-up plastic tanks so seldom need replacing.
