I installed 3/8" hard brake line instead of the rubber fuel line. Hoping that will help shed some heat...

Ok, I ran it through the ringer last night with the big filter and it offered a significant improvement. Now I can limp it home when it starts acting stupid. But I till can't drive at reasonable speeds.

Maybe this fuel pump is just to small? Is that even possible? No one else has problems with the E2000.

Just ordered an E8248 pump. We'll see if double the pump means double the flow.

An E2000 should be way more than adequate for TBI. 30-40 GPH, 70-95 PSI
E8248 60-70 GPH, 110-120 PSI

TBI 5.7 stock pump 12-17 PSI, 35 GPH
TBI 7.4 stock pump 36-55 PSI, 40 GPH

I don't think a diff. fuel pump is your answer?

I have a generator with an inline pump similar to the E2000. Had it running yesterday and the pump generates some serious heat. Maybe that's your issue?

2 things that you could always do in the future:

Summit/Jegs have a 6 row cooler( 4 on one loop and 2 on the other ) You could run the hi pressure thru the 4 loop and the return thru the 2 loop.

One of the fancy import cars use a fuel cooler that is connected to the AC system. Fuel gets circulated thru Freon or w/e it's called now. I imagine you don't have AC though :p

Sounds like he simply had a bad pump then?

The old pump works fine. It wasn't supplying enough fuel. Reading around on Pirate I'm not the only one whose had this issue with the E2000.

I picked up a ton of power on the top end and it runs with the fuel hot. Problem solved.

It works as intended but was too small.

It was Jaguar back in the '80s. There was a fuel log integrated into the low side of the manifold hose assembly. The low side line runs in the 40-50deg range, so it would cool the fuel as the fuel circulated around that hose.

Interesting that you mentioned this David.
My first dealership job was at Reno Chrysler, which also sold Jags. That fuel log sprung a leak on an XJ6 and I was astonished to see that it was cooled by the A/C Low Side hose.
Smokey Yunik played around with this idea back in the late 60s trying to super-cool the fuel. In the end his experiments showed that while the chilled dense fuel charge did seem to enhance power production, it was mitigated by the parasitic drag and weight of the A/C system. All his tests were done on a dyno btw.
I've often thought this would be a great addition to a vehicle that sees use in very hot climates.
