Sierra Nevada FSJ Meetup (PLANNING!)

Post by Renodemona »

Greetings!
So, with the holidays here and prolific amounts of egg nog, ATF, and money about to be consumed at the Smith household, I'd like to start planning a Spring meetup in the Sierra Foothills sometime in Late March. I'm thinking a day trip because it still gets pretty chilly unless we want to be further down in the valley. We could do the Yankee Jim road over the sketchy Bridge from Colfax up to Foresthill and then back down to Auburn. its a dirt road but might need 4x4 1-2 times briefly pulling into Foresthill. We did the first half of this a couple years ago, really nice views but not very off-roady. But it does have a sketchy bridge and probably a craft fair. How does March 24 sound? Also open to other suggestions or destinations in the foothills area. Lets get something big going and park a bunch of old jeeps on people's parking lots!

Been too long since I have met up with you guys! I watched a guy do that road in a Porsche, but looked nice.

I have a place here I would love to take you guys, but it’s under snow until May-June.

We definitely need to do something though! There is also stuff over by Bodey and such in the summer, which is closer to you guys. Would not be against checking out some of the desert stuff you guys have either.

Dad and I left the group at that bridge and drove up into Foresthill and it was 2 wheeling the entire way. Dad was saying there was a fork near the river that led to a lookout or something and was reportedly 4x4 only. I hope to be able to meet up in the spring and do some low range trailing with the group.

Would like to do Bodie for sure, but also a later in the year prospect.

That would be cool with me. Want to keep it pretty simple for a first time out for the year but at least some 4x4 shifting would be ok with me.

Found my trail books in all the unpacking so now more options to look at. :)
