Our last official day of wheeling was Saturday and we got a really late start due to my Jeep squeeling the belts. Got a ride up to Montrose from Jerry(THANKS AGAIN! :D ) and installed the new belts only to find out that with full pressure my hi-pressure power steering line leaked live a siv. Jerry and Heimeken donated a section of junk heater hose and a bunch of hose clamps and with a little bit of MacGyver like ingenuity I was back in action with nobody wanting to kill me due to the screeching!

Before heading up to Montrose Jerry and I checked in with the Jeep tour folks for spare parts only to realize they were closed up.
Image

After all the repair work we headed out with the plan to head up to the water crossings on Imogene and check them out in the daylight.
Image

Has this thing ever moved? :p

Hey, it's Rick!
Image

At about this point we hit rain, thunder, lightning, sleet, hail and snow all at the same time
Image

Image

Closed for renovations. IIRC in '09 I stuck my head up under the bridge and found a data plate that shows it was at one point a DRGS rail car

Pouring rain now

For rent?

Fill 'er up
Image

Image

We paused at the old mill site to goof around in the water crossings. Dared him to hit it as hard as he could but the 'Zuki didn't think it was as funny as I did
Image

The first of several BIG groups came down and it looked like some sort of antiquated Jeep dealer
Image

Image

Image

Made it up to the triple crossing and waited out another VERY LARGE group coming down Imogene. There was one jerk in an FJ Cruiser that came flying down the trail with his lightbars blazing in broad daylight wizzing in an out of folks trying to get thru the obstacles. Ran into this guy several times during the week and each time he was the same level of jerk.

Hitting the water crossing
Image

This is where I got stuck Friday night. Did not need towed out tho.
Image

Image

He's stuck
Image

Image

Image

Image

Rather than also getting stuck or breaking something with over 2000 miles still ahead on my journey I took the bridge
Image

Image

Image

And we wound up at the mine again. They need to mark that turn better
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

We parked in town and did some walking around

Leaving Ouray for the last time on this trip...BOO!

Sunday I headed out but before doing so I went around to see everyone that was still there one last time.

Gotta thank HOOT & Rudy again for sharing the cabin. :-bd

At some point on this trip I was looking for the excuse to test the articulation of the hitch on my trailer. Got to test it on every switchback on Engineer Pass but didn't have the chance to shoot photos until this spot.

Blue Mesa Lake. Just missed HOOT but a couple minutes

Drove thru the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. It is without a doubt the windiest road I have EVER been on but I made it to the top.

Very nice trip. Love that trailer.
I didn't get you measured for hoop bows for it. If you still want to try and make a set let me know.
