For anyone reading this, you can still reach Dave by email or phone when Ouray KOA is not open.

Speaking of which, we were in Ouray this past Sunday and stopped by to see if Dave was there. He was standing outside when we rolled up. He greeted us with the usual big smile and we caught up on a few things. Out of al these years, the only "bad" thing that seems to stick out about our group was the year someone pulled an extension cord from a tent site across the road to an RV site. I guess that is good. :D I told him as far as I know, it is 27 sites reserved to date. He thought that was great. So they are knocking out projects to be open on May 1.

As long as he is not bringing up stuff that was undesirable last year or any previous year this year, I am good with that. :D

I agree Flint as I see it I have no recollection of what happened yesterday much less last year :). I cant wait to get going now. This is just around the corner and school can not get over soon enough. The mountains are calling me.

Well, I am coming over here for my Ouray updates.

:)

I most likely will not do a trailer this year so my site will become available. It's a great trailer site. Some shade, not too close to the bathrooms, not too far from the 'action'.

I will be watching for Camp sites opening up.

Excellent. I will most likely show up on the 14th. I always enjoy the few days before the offical event. What are you bringing this year?

I will have an open seat if one of the girls wants a change of view. It's the least I could do after the help they put in on the roll bar and bumpers. ;)

I haven't been keeping up with the Ouray info much, so I'm just checking in.
As of today, I'm still on track to be there on Tuesday the 16th.
Was planning on driving out in my Oldsmobile powered J-truck and was working feverishly to get it finished, shaken down and road worthy in time.
I got it mostly put together and running but the engine appears to be sick - no oil pressure (goes up to about 4 psi if you rev it). Checked with two different mechanical gauges (one know to be working properly) and two different lines. Spent some time trying to find the problem, but lost all momentum in the project :( .
So now I'm trying to decide if my '91 Grand Wagoneer has one more epic road trip/mountain adventure left in it, or if we'll be coming out in the Baby Grand ('04 WJ).
But either way, I'LL SEE YOU ALL IN A COUPLE MONTHS!! :D

Found my confirmation finally:
Arrive: Monday July 15th, 2013
Depart: Saturday July 20th, 2013

After some discussion with Em on the road this weekend in the Caddy powered Wag, we are not taking the Pushmobile to Ouray.
Sorry if that upsets some folks but too bad, it doesn't bother us at all.
We may not even take the Q, if we can score a deal like Bob did last year on a GC an they will allow us to tow the Coleman with it we might just do that instead, or we may just tent camp.
What I do know is I am never driving the wag 1,300+ miles ever again in one trip.

I guess you've gotten soft in your old age. :P

We drove the Honcho down to, Moab, Ouray and Las Cruces last year. :fsj:

Can't say I blame ya though

Edit - found a pic from last week of the Honcho towing the Coleman over Cameron pass. 10k feet. This was only a 300 mile round trip, but the Honcho was driven HARD at the 'dunes.

I/we have driven the wag in 2003, 2008, 2010 and 2011.
Plus almost all the regional trips in AZ and NM except for 3, it's a lot of miles, noise and heat.
We will still do the regional stuff (5-6 hours) we are just not going to put ourselves in a can for that long anymore.

I totally understand that.

I think the old Honcho is DONE with the long trips though. My dad is giving me his '94 Dodge cummins (that he bought new). That will tow the Honcho from now on.

But we are planning to drive the '88 waggy down there. I'm swapping in a 4.3 V6/700r4/Atlas 2sp this week. I hope to get the A/C running too. It's got a good interior and is pretty comfortable to drive.

I hear yea Tad. If I had my way and could find a car trailer I would just tow the Cherokee up. It's a long haul in a lifted jeep.

If and when I do make it to Ouray (Had really hoped to this year, but not going to make it), it will not be in the J10. 20+ hour drive one way in that thing would make me want to shoot myself.
