Ouray, to do list

Post by Austin4x4 »

we are geting down to the wire here, and if you are like me you have a bunch of things to finish on your rig before ouray. i am starting to get in to full on panic mode inorder to finish the fourdoor in time. less than two months to go and i still dont have it roadworthy. so i thought we could share our list of things to do.

new battery
install front/rear bumpers
install new windshield
install new weatherstrips
hook up heater controls
liscens plate lamp
wire trailer hitch
new tires
get new driveshafts made
get a spare wheel
finish random wiring stuff

optional stuff
cover headliner with fabric
finish bodywork or rear doors
install floor mounted shifter
convert to H4 headlamps
install HID off road lamps
Line-x rocker panels, roof and bed

considering i have basicly built a truck from scratch, if i can manage to pull this of it will be a real accomplishment.

I'm planning to take my '88 waggy, but it just so happens that I sold the 401 out of there today. That thing was burning way too much gas and I just don't have the motivation to properly tune it.

My my 'to do' list includes swapping the entire drivetrain over :fsj:

1. Install new fuel tank coffin.
2. Install new fuel lines
3. Figure out why hard braking causes the tranny to dis-engage.
4. Figure out why I keep pouring money into this thing without even thinking about it.

I had wanted to get the headliner fixed but probably won't have time. Oh well, the pins are holding it up nicely.

The pink shirt is already loaded.

Sway bar is optional.

Other than that I just need to toss some camping stuff in and I am ready to go!

4.3L/700R4 swap is 90% complete.

Then once that's working good, I'm swapping out the rear D60 in favor of a disk brake 14bolt and swapping in 63" chevy leaves.

Then, once that's working good, swapping in the rear W/T fenders.

4.3l swap is 95% complete. Just needs exhaust.

14 bolt has been stripped and cleaned. Perches, brackets, ubolts, disks, calipers, pads all ordered.

Trying to figure out what gear ratio? I'm thinking 5.38's. The hills in Ouray are steep! :fsj:

Whoa! It's almost time to go.

Looks like the headliner won't be replaced before I leave. Maybe some more pins to hold it up.

I might work on a coolant leak next weekend but other than that, I think I am good to go!

We are down to load trailer and drive far.
It's also nice to know that if we break a front shaft Em can change it while I take a nap.
