So, now that I'm not bringing my truck, I'm falling back on my little Baofeng. It'll work with the factory antenna but I'd like to use a mag mount. I bough one but I bought the wrong adapter so it won't plug in to the radio.
I'm leaving on Friday so I don't have time to get the right adapter delivered.
By chance, does anyone have a spare SMA female to UHF female (SO-239) adapter like this one?

I'd order those but changing shipping to the KOA pushes delivery out to next Wednesday at the earliest.
If you have a spare you can sell me or don't mind picking one up, I'd be more than happy to reimburse you.

Well, we didn't get to mess with the Ham's much in Ouray. Most trail rides were CB oriented.
I did try Engineer from KOA and was able to raise someone:
147.270+ 127.3 KB5ITT At Engineer Peak
This was with the base unit in my truck. Kenwood TM-d710. I will have to check on what power setting I had it on.
Craig and I had good communication running out to Ouray via Simplex. As you know it is much clearer than CB.
Also on a run with Jessie I used two handheld BAOFENG with rubbder ducks and set to a FRS frequency on low power and it worked great.
We ran through Silverton so quickly I didn't get to try: 147.375+ 156.7 KB5ITS Sliverton, Kendall Mountain. I will give that a shot next year.
I would have also like to try to get my APRS working. I put in my call sign. I am not sure what else I need to do to get it to work. It would be great to be able to send out text signals if hitting the repeaters isn't working.

Same here. I ran my APRS for the drive out and that was it. On the plus side I was connected fairly consistently except over monarch. Not bad for a 5w beofeng and old Moto X!

I saw your track.
I had APRS working. But gave up on it after TC failed. Left everything at home. Just took CB :/
I designed a custom circuit board to interface the Raspberry Pi and to Radio Shack 2m and it actually worked out great.

Absolutely. I'm not sure exactly what setup I will have but I will have something.

Cool. I will look you up if I can't find the charger for my Vertex 150 and don't get a mobile rig installed

1. Vertex VX-150, car charger, antenna adapter: check
2. Alinco DR-135T, magmount, newly installed in the 4Runner and tested: check
3. APRS setup: maybe.

A year later and I still haven't set up APRS. Well, at least the rig is permanently mounted.

Here's a list of our callsigns (add yours if you don't see it), 2m repeaters, and FM simplex frequencies.
