Poughkipsee is the most likely trail for breaking something and that likelyhood is pretty slim. I would describe it as a moderate trail and in a few places you can bypass.

The rest of the trails I have been on are basically dirt roads with an occassional rough patch but there isn't any rock crawling stuff.

So what's the specs on walter? Hard to tell from the avatar!

Oh, and hanging out is fun too. There are folks that do that and most any day a few folks take a break. If you stick to the trails close to Ouray you can conserve on the gas budget too. But be warned.. gas is not cheap in Ouray or Ridgeway. I plan on it to be a dollar higher than national rates.

There are usually open seats too. Make friends early at camp and ask for a ride! :)

That's the iconic one, right? Is it a hard trail??

It's not technically difficult. As you go over the pass there is an off camber spot that is a little bit blind and be a bit intimidating but the trail is wide and you are not crawling over big rocks or boulders.

There are a couple of narrow spots on the trail but no problems even for a FSJ, you just have to pay attention. Best part is the downhill side is one way so no squeezing over for traffic.

My best Black Bear trip is when I rode shot gun with Casey. He did the driving. I took pictures and got to check out the scenery!
And you paid it forward letting me ride with you over it the year my allergies had my eyes watering so bad I couldn't see to drive! BethAnn rode with Derek in his Wrangler, broke a front U-joint on the switchbacks, and you made cheese crisps--you've always been the gracious breakdown host!

As long as the fire conditions stay where they are we'll be OK. Stage one in Ouray county allows for forest in established fire rings (like the KOA).

Hey, everybody. We are in 47A. Jim will be getting there on Tuesday and John will get there on Thursday. When we made the reservation we didn't realize that 47A was right in the middle of the whole get together. If anybody wants to trade spots we are open to it. Thanks.

Nope! Moab then on to Ouray!

Overheating near Georgetown, we took the hood off. Image Image

After a cool down and top off we cleared our biggest obstacle of the trip without breaking a sweat! Image

Greetings from Ouray! Arrived last night with Craig. Hooked up with Roy and some of his friends and did Yankee today. The weather is perfect. A little warm in the sun but not too bad. Also, flowers are in bloom. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!
