Can links be set to open new window?

Post by TUDrewser »

Most forums I'm on when I click a link, it opens a new tab or new window. Is that possible on this forum? I can't tell you how many times I click a link, then close the tab when I'm done looking at it only to realize I closed the tab the forum was on and have to go all the way back in. Hoping it's maybe just a setting or something so I can follow links but keep the forum open too.

I am pretty sure it is in the tools area on ie
1972 Dodge Demon with a 451" stroker Big Block
1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer AMC 360" AKA Golddigger- SOLD
2003 Dodge Crewcab 2500 Cummins longbed 4x4
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee V-6 full time 4x4

Alternators, winches, 4x4, guns all have the same issue if you don't have any knowledge of them usually bad things will happen. Serehill

I don't use ie...chrome. And I can right click the link and click "open in new tab", but this is the only forum that doesn't do it automatically.

If you click with the scroll wheel or ctrl+click it opens in new tab also

Ok, I run a computer repair business and I didn't know about the scroll wheel thing...that's slick, despite making me feel real stupid. I just have to remember to do it...left clicking links is so second nature. Was hoping there was a global setting in the admin tools to enable it automatically. Can't imagine why someone would NOT want it, but maybe there is a reason.

It's a design decision that the PHPBB team made. One that I greatly disagree with. Nothing I can do about it.

My mouse has 2 more buttons on the left side that I can use my thumb on and one is set as the back button. Its extremely handy, until I use a different mouse... :banghead:

The control click would mean setting my beer down and using the other hand... :banghead:

You could open up the mouse controls and set the forward button to act as a control click. Did it on one of my mouses.

The problem there is when it comes time to upgrade. Custom code makes upgrading a nightmare. Wish it was an admin setting, but oh well.

Oh I know they can be modified. But as mentioned, upgrades get harder and harder every time you mod something.
