Advice on selling a 79 J10!

Postby Treadted2 » Tue Dec 04, 2018 1:16 pm

Hello Forum,

I recently inherited this 79 Jeep and as cool as it would be to have it for myself, it's just not practical for me as I am in LA and the truck is in GA... so I need to get rid of it. Having trouble pinning down a reasonable value to price it at and what the best method would be to find a buyer. Anyone have advice? Here are some pics and info:

it's a 79 J10, 4 speed, 38k original miles, new motor. It runs pretty well. Body has some issues. Needs a paint job and some rust removal.

From what I can see from looking around a bit, I'm think it's worth maybe around $10k? I do have someone local to the truck that is offering $7k... but that seems a little low to me.

Would appreciate any thoughts!

Are you sure it is not a 138000 . If you could justify 38000 on paper and title miles its worth more than 10000.00

I think $7K is a reasonable offer

Yeah it's 38k... really low. Justify it on paper? How does that work? I can check the title, not sure what it says on there.

If you were in GA to show it, you might get $10k for it.

The shine in the paint makes me think 38k miles is accurate, but those rust bubbles poking from the inside out mean it's still a rusty old truck.

I'm with rocklaurence, take $7k from someone that wants it and we'll all hope it's not smashed up in a movie later this year.

You state new motor that could heart value badly... Grab the money and run. I do not now if 6 or 8 auto or stick need options and interior color . What do they say a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

looks like a tan interior and has lock out hubs so likely a standard shift, but could have a part time conversion.
