Wife's Birthday cruise.

My wonderful wife of 15 years decided for her birthday that she wanted to drive up to the mountains and eat lunch. She also decided that the Cherokee would be the perfect vehicle to take. We loaded up and drove up 321 to Townsend.

Image A bit of a dreary looking day but any day behind the wheel of a jeep is generally a good day.

We were thinking about going up to Cades cove and doing the loop and then going out Parson's Branch road or Rich Mountain road but we had to pick up our oldest daughter from school at 2:40 and decided not to risk it. I have been stuck behind people in Cades cove for hours and I think my wife had visions of our 5 year old standing outside school on the curb bawling. We went up to the end of Townsend and ate at the riverside cafe and then took the Foothills parkway out of Walland and then came out on Montvale road. It's a really nice drive in the fall when the leaves are changing.

We normally hike up to the fire tower you can just make out on top of the hill. We skipped it today as it was a little bit chilly.

We need to have a Tennessee get together ;). I'm betting there are enough of us. Had a blast at the ECI last year.

I'm down. I'd even drive the Waggy with the old smoking 360 still in it if I had to. :fsj: :-bd

Hmmm. I'm thinking a meet in Crossville, maybe. Wife and I have already taken off for the eclipse on Aug 21st. The center will pass nearly directly over Sparta/Cookeville/Crossville. Be a neat meet up to hang and watch it.

There used to be some riding in and around the Obed river near crossville. I think there are some camping places too.

No luck finding any off road trails online. They do have a viewing party for the eclipse. I'm still cool with a meet up somewhere in that vicinity. It doesn't really matter when. Be cool to find a destination, drive, and hang out with the families.
