No wonder I cannot wrap up any projects this summer... I pulled this off a junk yard waggie today...

You are very welcome, but it's hard not to ask, "hey, you wanna sell that?" when you post things like that winch/bumper combo.

Lol. The bumper was welded onto the frame with some of the tightest, most comprehensive welds I've ever seen, so it's still there. The Siderwinder winch wasn't so lucky- 6 3/4" grade 8 bolts yeilded up the winch and a cool custom mounting bracket that bolted to the welded winch bumper.

My father in law is taking his lil trailer back this week along with his cutting torches, so I scrambled to get the last of the 65 parts loaded for a trip to the recycling yard tomorrow. It's been a good trailer, but now I might need my own.

I hope to wrap up sanding the 66's fenders and paint them this month. While I am at it, I might rework the brake lights.

Speaking of making my own, here's an update!

Aside from selling off a few things here and there- here goes the drive train from the 65.

I managed to take most of the frame from the 65:

And I decided to make a truck bed trailer out of it.

The only thing I need now is the 8' Thriftside bed I bought off of Kaiserman, but if all goes well, it will be here within the next two weeks. BostonBob sent photos of the bed at his place in Conifer, CO., but they wouldn't upload to photobucket for some reason. I'll keep trying to upload 'em.

Added to my "do want, do not need" list.

That new trailer looks great! You make it look like an easy process.

That was a sweet bumper. I just took the winch. Which I ended up selling to a forum member for cost.

It's a labor of love, not of necessity, so that must explain a lot! Lol. Thanks, though.

Here are some shots of the bed courtesy of Kaiserman and BostonBob:

Well then, there now- lookee what showed up today at 9:45am.

Image

Had to wake up the neighbor's home schooled kid to help the the two old codgers unload the beast.

Image

So now it comes to aligning it and bolting it down. Body work to follow!

Yeah, it's all going back together... Here's a quick n dirty mock up pic, or two:

I'll keep an eye out for a pair. You can order a fiberglass set from Willys America. What you spend on new, you might save on shipping across the pond, and the channel.

Thanks for the tip, i'll look to the willys America option, assuming that the size of the Willys America'" fenders is not very different from the size of the Gladiator ones. I am looking also for skirts but the shape seems simple and i guess it won't be very difficult to make them by a local if i don't find any

I think it should be universal fitting on the fenders as the beds went basically unchanged from 48-72 +/- a year, or two.

As for the skirts, there seems to be two styles, one is a simple rounded bend easily replicated by any decent metal fab shop.

The other style has the same rounded bend, but on the lower outside bottom edge it suddenly curves outward slightly with a straight lip at the bottom edge. The second style can be replicated, but not easily.
I had the second set bent up at the local metal shop "Spokane Tin", those guys are the masters.

The biggest problem are the rear "beauty caps" on rear skirts. I am looking for a way to replicate those little monsters.

It's going slow, that's where it's going! Lol.

Actually, I did make progress today, bolted it all together- getting it ready to hold some spare jeep parts. I did have to reinforce the spare tire carrier and piece together usable tail lights.
