No motor ...luckily I have a Spare 360. Looks to be in good shape except the floor boards and rear wheel wells.
It's time to teach him how to weld.

For this truck the first things I will need is a complete power steering pump and bracket.then the harder part. I am going to need the drivers side sheet metal behind the rear door all the way to the inner floor. I could make it from scratch but would take a very long time.

Looks like a decent starter. :-bd I imagine there is a fair amount of rust where the fender well meets the floor in the back. When you get ready to put the engine in, don't forget the bushing in the back end of the crankshaft.

Started to put my Spare motor in today and it will not roll over. Pulled the plugs and shot some wd 40 in the cylinders and still it will only move about 30 degrees of crank rotation. Pulled the valve covers and everything is fine in fact it's completely clean no sludge or anything. Same with the oil pan everything looks fine. I'm going to pull the timing cover next I hope the issue is there.

So it looks like it's going to need a complete teardown....on the up side I noticed the cam gear is tost thanks to the cheap hei distributor it had. Ohh well this gives me an excuse to add some performance parts......at this point I suspect something in the cylinders.

Yeah, in areas with high humidity the cylinders with valves open will rust fast as hell.
If you are lucky, the bores will clean up with a bar hone and lots of effort. If not, an overbore is in order.
I had a perfectly running 440 get stuck after six months of sitting here in humid Sacramento. I learned to squirt ATF in all the bores, spin a few times then remove the rocker gear so all the valves stay closed when storing a vehicle.

Are sure you don't want an 80 Wagon that just need a engine, tranny, and axles. Beautiful interior and a couple of rust on the rear
lower fenders. LOL

It's all good this will all be a great learning experience for shawn......now shawn might be interested in door panels or a headliner after Christmas. I'm currently on the fence considering a 5.3 swap for my waggy if this motor needs more than a re ring kit I my go that route and put my motor in his truck.
