Installed a new fuel pump today. Hope to overhaul the carburetor tomorrow, if weather permits.

I got my dual post media player/radio installed last week. I also got my CB installed. It is a period correct 40 channel Midland CB made in 1977.
DSCF2716 small.jpg
Had to replace the radiator. The old one was leaking along the core and top tank. Had to settle for a plastic/aluminum radiator. I replace the radiator in 2001 with a Schucks/Checker/Krager radiator and O'Rielly replaced it under warranty no questions asked. You got to love that. Even though I received a plastic/aluminum replacement it still saved me a whole lot of money. :-bd

Me too, even love the stripe.

Looks like yours is in great shape, New?

I am going to paint the lower half of mine similar to yours too. was your roof body color factory? Mine seems to be a odd ball for color and decals. It is titled as a '77 but was manufactured in Aug, '76. It seems to share different paint and decals from both those years. I have the 1977 stripe down the side and back. Roof was painted black to match the upper body and I have a decal that starts just behind the doors that extends the black into the body. I have seen this decal on other Cherokees, but usually it is on the doors too.

When I got it, the cherk had the standard late 70's chief decals, fat black stripe across the lower body / tailgate with "cherokee chief" text. All yellow on roof and flares (double stripe on flares) and medallions on the front fender in front of the door. It needed rocker/flair rust repair, so I decided to do those areas in bedliner after repair. I always liked the early cherokee paint schemes, kinda did a combo of my favorite bits(like the muscle grille) Been driving it for 2 years, have spent more in gas than parts by now! Love the FSJ's

I am like you. Did not really like the black Cherokee Chief vinyl. Like the indian blanket stripe. Gas is still cheaper than a new car payment a month. :-bd

Went out to check my timing a couple of weeks ago and found that the vacuum advance was bad. I think the plate is sticking some too. I was already going to do a upgrade so this just moved it up some.

Found this unit for $53.99 shipped to the door. Includes the distributor, cap, coil, rotor, module. Looking forward to some new performance. Who knows how long it has been bad..... :x

Is that the CRT Performance all-in-one HEI? (or another company that does the same thing?) Those are great! Was one of the few things I did to mine that helped ;)

Swap your original dizzy gear onto it just for safety. ;)

No it is by a company called Speedmaster. Yup, all-in-one HEI. Just 12V switched volts and go. Well...... I hope anyway.

OK cool, probably the same kind of unit. Just takes 12v switched in, has a tach output option? Yes X2 on putting the old dizzy gear on. I decided not too, now I've been "enjoying" replacing the cam gear and dizzy gear for a new matched set.

Yeah, I was already planning on doing that. Just hope I do not find a problem when I pull this one out.

Yes it does have the tach output. So anyone have a application on spark plug wires that will work, or just purchase the make your own wires? Also spark plugs since the gap will probably be wider now?
