Wow, your truck weighs double what mine does. I think mine was in the 4200 range last time I weighed it.

Very cool build. The air channel is genius.

Not much has happened other then driving the hell out of it and gathering parts. It's been put back into DD service since Xmas eve.
I got a set of air bags for the rear, but found a writeup for a second a.c. compressor so gathering parts to put that together before I install them.
Lost my lift pump 2 weeks ago, so got a new FASS pump, only took 20 mins to swap out. 2 screws and the plastic inner fenders come off and I have full access to the side of the block. Why can't everything be this easy to work on???
Last 2 fill ups I was averaging 16 MPG, guess I need to "try" to keep my foot out of it. It's hard when it moves this ole truck around like a sports car on crack...

Got to put her to the test today. Ran great, but would be looking to chip it if I did a lot of towing.

Seems like a fair trade, you’ll probably benefit from the new kitchen as well- happy spouse, happy house.

Lol, I'm lucky I have a high metabolism...
Last Friday I developed a squeak in the rear chasing parts for my wife's ZJ. Before I got home, it turned into a grinding noise and heard a couple of pops like it was spitting pieces out. Got it in the air and the pass side had come apart and ground all but 1 spring to pieces, and there were 2 flat spots on the adjuster wheel. IT IS SO BITCHIN TO GO TO THE MCPARTS HOUSE AND GET EVERYTHING OFF THE SHELF! They had a complete small parts kit and it's all New in there now.
Now, to find time to install this ac....

How am I only just seeing this?? Thank you so much for documenting your build so thoroughly.

So after 6 months of DD, are you still happy? Anything that you wish you did/didn't?

What's the most you've towed to date?

Thanks a billion!

Still grinnin from ear to ear.

At this point there's nothing in what I've done I'd change, but a few things left to do. Still want to drop the front 3", but im looking for a set of stock front springs to cut. I just got a 1/2" plate of steel to build the mount for the second a/c compressor where the front engine hoisting eye is for on board air, then I have bags for the rear and air horns. I also need to get the VA system in, it's getting warm....

Hard to say on heaviest, probable the 01 v8 grand Cherokee on a tow dolly.

And last fill up I got 17.3 mpg... :-bd

God I love my truck....

Was it pretty insane to try and get her registered/insured? Is it still considered salvage?

Sorry if my questions seem simple, I’m fairly new to the car restoration scene.

It has the same Jeep VIN plate under the hood and door jamb, and I'm running the same historic plates it's always had. I just keep renewing the tags online. We are a non-emissions county now, and even if we did, it should be cleaner then the stock.

My trans kept leaving little drips under the rear aluminum case and the last couple weeks it turned into small puddles. Found a cast replacement on Ebay for $85 shipped and no more worrying about its fluid level. Did the seals in t case while it was out. Also found it already has a 5th gear lock nut, so that's another worry off my mind...
