Working on more details, vac lines are done, a whole 2 lines, one for cruise, one for front axle until I convert. Ext lights are wired. Broke the rear tires down to clean the mud out of the bead so they hold air. Fans are wired. Took it for a ride around the neighborhood and actually got into 3rd for a short bit, lol. It handles nice with the weight of the bed on it. It's re-registered, insurance will be next week, then I will see how it does. It's a loud little thing with no trans cover on it...

Thank you sir. Its going to feel good to be back in my truck. Its been down about a year and a half now...
Hope all goes well for you and your recovery is short.
I've been watching you and your sons build and you two did a bitchin job on that. I am anxious to do the same to a Willys...

A year and a half is no time at all! All went well, is well here, still under restrictions, though. Thanks for the compliment on the Father/Son Project!

More little things, rear bumper on, doors wired (Jeep window motors & locks spliced into dodge harness) and the dodge key fobs lock and unlock it. Mounted tcase shifter, but still needs work.
Wanted to drive it home, but the trans is low and I'm not finding fluid easily. It's been leaving a puddle under the trans mount, I think the rear cover is cracked, so that's probably the next phase. Find another and swap.
And of course pics...

Nv4500 rear covers like to develop hairline cracks. The one in my Scrambler has one and it’s annoying. Not sure how to fix it. I thought there were steel versions around but haven’t seen any. May try some leak due to see if it can be pin pointed, then pull it and see if some kind of repair can be done.

I have searched online, new alum covers are about $85, steel are $245. Mine does appear to be cracked judging by the wetness. Got fuel and ran the 15 miles home, no issues so far. It feels good to be in my jeep again.

Just ran it to the next town over (Prescott) with only one hiccup, the fuel pressure sending unit was leaking when I got to town. I pinched the hose off that leads to it with vise grips and ran to a buddy house, and checked again there and it seemed dry. I'll check it out tomorrow. 77 miles on it and the fuel needle only moved 1/8th of the gauge, already seems like better mileage, but time will tell. And the cruise control works. Need to get something on the floors to quiet the cabin so I can get my 12" subs and Octane (xm head) back in and hear them, but it was fun listening to that turbo spool... :-bd :fsj:

Man, another 50 miles with no issues and the gauge only moved 1/8. The hood flexes a bit in the center, but the hold downs hold it tight at the corners at 70 mph. I am having way too much fun driving it...

My kids got me some cool gifts this year.

Jaber, did that dodge have a factory security system? If so, how did you by-pass it to run the engine?

I don't think it does. It has the keyless entry, but have not seen any signs of a security system.
As far as bypassing, I have used the entire dodge wire harness, including both computers (engine and body are separate) , instrument cluster, over head display, steering column which has steering wheel cruise and stereo controls, and even have a factory stereo to put in. I even have the Jeep door locks (85 GW doors on it) tied into the harness and the key fobs work. Hell, even the auto window down feature works with the GW window motors, and they run like New. Its funny to see how fast they go up and down now. LOL, sorry about ramblin on...

I saved the carpet kit out of the Dodge with the insulation on the bottom and will attempt to put it in this weekend.

Very cool- we’ll done. I was curious about a factory security system since the 2001 Chevy I have for the 5.3 swap has one built in. I’ve heard bypassing the system is tricky.

Your built is slick!

Thank you. It is so much fun to drive, and it turns heads. Went by a house yesterday that is getting reroofed, it was funny to watch the whole crew stop to watch me go by.

So today I took the firewall insulation from the dodge (foam with thick rubber face) and worked it in from the floorboards up. Last week I laid the dodge carpet out and pressure washed it real good and left it out to dry. I had to trim the rubber out from under the gas peddle, but it all laid in very nicely. The carpet was long enough to go up the back wall to the bottom of the window channel. A little trimming around the gas peddle and I'm happy enough to leave it, and figure out a way to trim it out.
Ran the rear harness through the jeep channel to finish the rear for speakers, dome, and cargo/3rd brake light wires. Ran a piece of 1×6 front to back and mounted the over head display. Also mounted a factory stereo for giggles, it'll go away fast. Steering wheel radio controls don't work, so I'll get a $20 head unit later. I am spoiled by my XM.
The drive home was night and day different in cab noise. I am VERY surprised and pleased with myself. Still need to do some touch ups, but a big step forward. I tried to get pics...

Been doing more detail items as I get time, been daily driving it since Xmas eve, what a blast...
Trimmed the dodge door seals and cut to length and they fit surprisingly well. One draft down...
Got a muffler and installed it, made quite a difference in the volume out the pipe, and now I can hear the turbo spool up, God I love that sound...
Got rain a week ago, which forced me to wire GW delay wiper motor to dodge harness, now have full function including wash. The day after the rain, the doors locks kept "unlocking" themselves. It did it most of the day, but has not done it since. I need to get new window felts to keep moisture out...
Used the dodge fuel fill spout and cap to make it easier to get 2cycle oil in, and now it seals well and doesn't puke out the cap when I drive. Now I can start getting real mileage #s.
This is such a blast to drive. I went by a house a couple weeks ago and it was fun to watch all 5 of the guys on the roof stop working and stare as I went by. It reminded me of the commercial with the cats where they all turn their heads at the same time.
I got to roll across a set of scales the other day and to my surprise it's only 250#s heavier than before. I thought it would be more. I was 8300#s with jeep frame and Caddy engine, now I'm @ 8540.

Did I mention how much fun it is to drive???
