Had a slow work week, so got a few things knocked out.
Cut engine mounts off, notch frame for ac comp, cut and replaced firewall, mounted steering column and pedal assembly, and notched rear cab to clear frame.
I have to lengthen the steering shafts, and relocate the fuel filter housing as it hits the hydro booster. As usual, here's way too many pics... :-bd

Ok, throttle pedal extended, now gets full travel, steering shaft extended, shifter shortened, cut inner fenders out, ready for something custom. Radiator is right up against the fan clutch. I'm hoping this truck had a lift and I can find a stock set of front Springs, as it sits now, I won't be able to see into my top boxes. At least it looks like the hood will fit...

I did 1" spacers between the hinge and hood for venting. At times, the hood would dance side to side nicely. I found where it was flexing...

That's one thing about a diesel... all that shaking will surely show ya any stress points or bolts you forget to torque down.

425cid, but think the worn out suspension played a part in it.
It's all in the thread a few pages back...

Ah... gotcha. Interesting that it wore out the suspension. I recall (I think?) the 472/500 being not much more than a small block Chevy. Is the 425 much more?

The suspension has been rode hard, then I put the caddy in. Part of the reason I'm doing frame and all.

You Arizona guys must be afraid of running out of fuel. LOL !! My 1975 J-10 came from Arizona also and the original owner installed a fuel tank behind the seat of mine also. I removed it. Not because of any safety concerns,( I drove a 1972 Ford F100 with the factory tank behind the seat for years), just because I needed the leg room. The original fuel tank is enough for me up here in Wisconsin.

Why does it seem like most diesel build threads get interrupted and put on hold?!?!?!
Just found out I am going to have to move out of this house after 11 years. Luckily the truck is at a buddy's shop so it won't have to be shuffled around, but, that means I won't have any "free" time until I figure out where we're going to land. Bear with me, I'll be back at it ASAP... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Are there any real estate investors on the forum interested in helping???

So today I made progress. I'm friends with the owner of a local tow company and stopped to talk to him. He had what he thought was an '03 chassis in the back 40 that had a 26 gal gas tank in it, the straps were very close to the original and the pump cap was the same 6.5" so I drug it out and hauled it out to the truck. I drained 7 gals out of it, wiped the inside clean, and transferred the remaining diesel into it, and the pick up and gauge fit like a glove. I now have that part answered... :-bd :-bd

Well, I made some forward progress on it yesterday. The stock Jeep radiator was going to fit, but would have to have several mods to work, plus I discovered that it's leaking. After lots of mental fabing, I was able to trim and adjust the Dodge radiator support to fit in place of the Jeep one. It is going to work out VERY well. Today I'm going to finish the front clip body mounts and finish grafting the Jeep valance and rad support to the dodges. This is going to make replacement parts much easier to find and not have to be modified to fit. Even the stock hoses will fit.

Damn Photobucket... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
