Hey guys,
I just picked up a 79 Ford HP Kingpin D60. As linking it is in the plans I am going to hang it on the leaf springs for a while. My question is what ubolts and spring plates do you all use?

The stock spring plates on the axle will work, they are located in the correct place. It makes you SOA. I forget what I used for U-joints.

It's a little wider than your stock axles. When get new wheels try to go with the most offset you can. The most on an aftermarket I could find was 25. Dodge 2500 wheels from 2009 have an offset of 40.

Oh, and congradulations on your pickup. It's a beefy axle and the high pinion is a nice feature.

There is a large web/gusset on the bottom of the housing. do you grind a notch into it to keep the ubolt straight?

does yours have 2 holes on top of the spring perch where the retaining bolts go?

I'm not sure about Ford, but GM has two bolts and one ubolt on the differential side. I'm actually in the middle of repairing the two holes in mine.

I'm thinking about eliminating the two studs and go with regular ubolts. You have to grind out the webbing right where yours says 'NC'.

These were some leftover pictures I had, not specifically to address your question but I think you can see some details that might help.

You drill a hole through the webbing to fit the u-bolt through. Been that way on mine for a few years now with zero issues.

AFAIK there were no modifications to bolt it up to the springs. They snofighter and FSJ share the same spring width. I am sitting on top of the stock ford perches.
