Brandon ,we are going to put a 400/d20 behind it.
Well, life got in the way for the last 6 months or better . Beca and I have done what we could with me trashing both shoulders back in Sept of last year.Next surgery is 12 May and should have this behind us.Add to the mix Beca's twin sister Jessica got her Kidney transplant in Sept. of last year and has spent a lot of time back and forth to UCLA. Jessica is looking at 55 Willy's if I ever get up to Co. and bring it home for her.
On to the build.
The 401 is here on an engine stand waiting for gaskets and paint.

With switching over to a 1966 title gave us the freedom to skip emissions so we boosted the drive line plans a bit.
Next we were on to the Interior parts she still needed and to clean and paint to match her plans.
Image
What we started with for a headliner. She used the soda to weight it down and reshape it.
Image
After dyeing black we used the trim from a waggy painted to match and painted the mirror also.

Next was replacing the broken plastic rods for the visors.
By taking a screw she was able to pull out the plastic and replaced it with a piece of 5/16 stainless brake line ,worked great.
Image
Image
With everything together for the Interior ,only missing carpet, gauges and a radio. It was time to move on to the truck itself .We got the front clip off ready to strip and paint and the cab is about ready to mount on the new frame.
The only rust is up under the gas pedal area, not a big deal.

Yesterday sprayed the fire wall down with oven cleaner and let it set , then hosed it off it came pretty clean.

The rust in the floor.

Been awhile since updated do to life. Today we mated the 66 cab to the 77 frame. The front cab mount have to be modified 3" but all in all should be straight forward swap out.

up on jack stands waiting the new frame

and down and mated.
In the back round you can see the 64 waggy back there still running like a top waiting for paint.

Did the 66 frame use the older style rear cab mounts with the springs? Do they match up otherwise to the 77's cab mounts?

Brandon , yes 66 had the spring style mounts . So far the front mount is the only difference. 3" forward of the cab location and about 1/2 " low. the back and rad support line up good. Will have to change to newer style body bushing when we get to this point.

Also, how well does the th400 work with the shifter in the early column? This is darn near the exact truck I want to build.

Cool, it'll be interesting to see how it works out. I didn't remember that the 400 was behind the Buick motors on the earlier wags.

Since this last post, Graduated from HS, second year of college, and lost all dad's pictures from Photobucket. The J is still the build plan but has gone threw many old man brain changes. But it is on the road.

You can get an add on to your browser that will fix the photobucket ransom so when you surf it'll show them. I was able to see them when I just opened the thread.

It helped me figure out what pic were where in my threads. Then I edited my posts with Tapatalk, inserting the photos where they were.
After that, I was able to copy from here and fix my IFSJA threads.
