I know you know it is not for the 'fuel pump'.
Did you try breaking the bolt loose on the spring? you might get lucky and the captured nut will not break out.
Also, you don't have to completly remove the fuel tank, you just need to move it to the side a bit so you can get a wrench or socket in to hold the nut.
Picked a color finally. Tank is not down yet. I got a little excited and wanted to see how the color looks. Color is a Toyota TRD 4Runner color. Now back to the grind.
