It has been a while since I have posted. My father has been diligently working away on the body work. We had some rust on the A pillars as well as on the body surrounding the quarter panel windows. Rust, dents, trim holes have all been addressed and the body is now in black primer. The doors and jams have been edged and the doors have been re-hung.
the body is straighter than it appears. the overspray from the jambs makes it look a bit wavy.
Out with the white.... In with the spinnaker blue metallic
Reinstalled the quarter panel windows and routed the air intake this weekend. Decided to point the air filter towards the drivers side as there is space there and there is a hole in the radiator support for cool air flow. I am also planning on putting the radiator overflow tank on the passenger side fender well so that it will be closer to the radiator cap. Anyone know of a flattish overflow tank that would work for this situation?
about a 1/2 inch of clearance with the alternator and the radiator.
sorry, I didn't even look for new ones as mine were in decent condition aside from one small tear. My father mentioned that there is a flowable gasket sealer that i should put in the gaskets post painting to help prevent leaks.

I used this one on the drivers side fenderwell since the other side has too much junk on it nowdays.
I found it at Autozone. They have two different styles and the hose is plenty long enough.

Does anyone know where to find the clips that mount the chrome trim that surrounds the quarter windows? Mine were completely corroded, so I am not even sure what they look like. Anyone with a model number or sku?

That looks fantastic, new paint really makes FSJ's shine. And really digging that color too. Kind of reminds me of the Gunmetal Blue they were using on TJs for a while.

Awesome looking Wag! Wow. My first FSJ was an 82 Wag, bare bones model that was more of dull, slate blue. Yours really looks fantastic! I don't know if you plan on going to any of the local cruise nights, like the one at Bass Pro/Gillette in Foxboro but sometimes I'm there. I'm sure your Wag will stick out in the crowd. I saw member Oaknoll's red J10 stepside there last year but I didn't find the owner to say hello.

Weezy can you tell me which bottom radiator hose you used I am having trouble with my 1979 J20 swap. Any information would be great a part# or application. Thanks

sorry... it's been a while since I last logged in. my father just bought a few random hoses and cut and spliced to make the connections. it's not elegant and digging up the sku's will probably lead you away from a better solution.
anyone know where I can buy new vent window frames? I am not talking about the channel frames that run down into the door, I am talking about the frames that hold the actual glass that have the bolt and spring on the bottom. The bolts on both of my windows have rusted off completely. If not, anyone ever fixed them? I will post pics of what mine look like in a couple of days, but here's a pic of the type of frame that I am looking for (off another car).
I have a couple of questions for everyone out here. We are just getting the waggy on the road and two issues have crept up.
Issue 1. Pressure is building up inside the gas tank. I am using a blazer gas tank with an internal pump, a 1999 5.3L, the stock fuel filler hose and cap, and I am running the vent hose from the fuel tank vent valve to the intake. What am I doing wrong? Air is rushing out when the fuel cap is opened.
Issue 2. My electric fans are not kicking on at idle. I have them wired from the ECU, not from a dedicated temp switch. My dakota digital gauges are on order right now so I don't know what temps that I am hitting. I guess my question is whether the ECU requires the temp gauge to be operating to turn on the fans? I wouldn't think so, but I thought I would ask before starting a trouble shooting process.
