Nice! A pic would be nice, but I can probably figure out a hose clamp...we'll have to meet up sometime. Don't get discouraged about slow progress. We are mostly all in that boat, methinks.

What, where?! That would be sweet. Today I'm going to DMV to get the registration renewed and new tags. I'll finally be road legal again. I decided to have the brakes checked, adjusted, and bled by a local shop. Every single brake part is new and I've never done brakes before so having some piece of mind that someone else who is supposed to know what theyre doing might be a good thing.

It's on the road again! Sorta...left this morning to have the brakes adjusted and bled by a mechanic. I wanted a trained eye to go over the brakes since everything's new. Should have a drive later this week. I'm so excited after 4yrs getting to this point!

Man, our trucks look a lot alike. I'll find a full-view pic of mine soon. Different years, grills, wheels, taillights but overall quite similar. Great to hear you drove it home!

Sorry, no video yet but I did take it on a drive through town this morning. Runs great and the brakes are amazing. Filled it up at the gas station then went to the feed store and got a half ton of pellets for my wood stove. It rode sooo much smoother with a thousand pounds in the bed On the way home though, the floor mount gas pedal came off twice. The first time was a little unnerving. Something seems to be binding with the linkage because it feels like I have to push way harder on the pedal than I should, hard enough that I pushed the pedal right off floor mount. It really struggled going up this big hill by my house, but I think it's because I'm not able to push the throttle in as far as I should.

So I think I'm sold on swapping in a hanging pedal. Any thoughts on doing this? I think I've read that some holes have to be drilled in the firewall, but that's no biggie. There's a 77 J20 being parted in a yard nearby, would that pedal work?

Finally earning it's keep after 4 years of work to get it roadworthy

I know folks have done this and I have everything here to do my older rig.
It should work just fine, grab the throttle cable with it, that's the only part that looks different to me, that and how it attaches at the firewall.
Your existing cable should have a recessed metal part and a clip that attaches it to the firewall on the inside like mine, the newer pedal/cable types have that plastic push in type plug, shouldn't be too hard to make it work.

Thanks tad. I'll grab everything if it's still there. My accelerator cable and firewall connection is aftermarket anyway. The oem piece didn't work with the ta470 when I installed it so I went with a universal, cut to fit type.

Yeah, I've seen that very thing done. I also thought about swapping in the CJ7 style gas pedal, but if the newer j20 is close, complete and reasonably priced, it would be the way to go.

I'm gonna call tomorrow. It's a small junkyard out in the boonies and they've had this j20 for a long time now. The rubber flap on my floor mount pedal tore away from that aluminum clamp long ago so nothing really holds the pedal to the bracket I guess. Always something:)

I got the 77J20 gas pedal for $10, but the throttle cable was gone. Jsinajeep was gracious enough to send me an OEM cable that I thought would work, but unfortunately it was a few inches too short. I ended up going with a universal stainless braided throttle cable and got everything buttoned up tonight. The fit of the new pedal isn't perfect, but I'm not too concerned with that. I had to drill a new hole for the cable, which is unfortunate, but I'm not too concerned about drilling holes. I'll take pics tomorrow when it's light.

First impressions are AMAZING. The new pedal feels like a gas pedal should. It's firm, responsive, and I finally have access to all 4 barrels in the carb I'm not sure what the problem was with the old floor mounted pedal, but seemed like it was binding for some reason and I could only get into the throttle part way. I haven't taken it out yet, but I'm sure driving tomorrow will bring a smile as I blow through the gears

That responsive feeling in the gas pedal never gets old!

Took it for a drive today and throttle response is waaaay better. The 327 moves along pretty darn good too:))
