Ya the starter is another one you can't replace from the parts store so take good care of that. I wrapped mine in a fabric heat shield to keep the exhaust manifold from cooking it.66stepside wrote:Oh, gotcha. Yeah, I looked for them on eBay, but DANG; I now remember why I had to ditch the last 327 due to scarcity of parts. I do love the 327, though.

The tsm says to remove the manifold in order to get the starter out which I've never had to do. It's a tight fit, but you should be able to wiggle it out with the manifold in place.66stepside wrote:
Good to know! Thanks for the tip. I'll hit up the wrecking yard this weekend with my son and he can pull the starter off that 327 if it's still there.

Well with the new carb I was able to get it set at 550 which is what the tsm suggests for a manual trans.66stepside wrote:Random 327 question: what's your idle rpms? I've adjust mine to roughly 700, but I need a tune up in a bad way.

Here's from the engine specifications page:66stepside wrote:Whoa. Nice. Mines not ready for 550. I did bring it down to 630, and I think that's the best I can get with the old wires and dist. on there now. I'll have to double check my service manual to see if it covers the 327.
Thanks!
