No doors makes it easier....

Hahaha, how have you been?

We're prepping the doors for paint on the interior side of them . He want to just clear coat over the metal above the door panels. I'm in favor of painting at least that part Spruce Tip Green because the interior has been repainted back to factory specs. Either way, it's a chore.

Busier then I want to be. I'm not getting near as much done on mine as I wish.
Your son's truck is looking awesome. Keep up the good work guys. :-bd

Glad all is well. I feel like we're treading water here, too.

Slow and steady wins the race- thanks!

The final piece was removed from the original cab in preparation for it's sale, or dismantling- whichever comes first.

The venerated Smokey the Bear sticker from the passenger's side door jam.

All this time I thought it was just a decoration for this former Forestry Dept. Supervisor's vehicle- but I was wrong.

The Retro Classic stereo went in today.

Image

Fairly straight forward installation: four speaker set up, or use their adaptor to run two speakers. We opted for 4.

One pretty cool thing was using the factory Jeep radio faceplate.

We set up the Aux. feature to allow the use of an electronic device- cell phone, iPod, etc. to run the music you want.

It sounds pretty good. Looks good, too.

The recover headliner went in today, the steering arm is done and installed, sun visors are in, and 62 is now working on seat belts. Rear brakes have been plumbed- I still need to plumb the front.

Passenger’s side door is in:

Image

We installed it the same way I installed the doors of the Panel Delivery- 62 hung a bracket from the ceiling’s joists and slung a tie down strap to ratchet it into place. The only difference now (with a cement floor) To fine tune the gaps, we used a wheeled stool with pneumatic up n down lever. You can kinda see the stool in the lower left corner of the pic.

I'm really digging that headliner. I'd like mine to look like that! Did you recover, paint, or otherwise re-use the original one or did you fabricate that from new materials? My 73 still has that 3-piece headliner design with the front and rear narrow pieces held up by those fasteners with the funny prongs - except my cardboard pieces are warped and wavy.

Thanks! I took a spare headliner from a mid to late 70’s era Wagoneer and cut out the section needed for the truck based upon the original we then recovered it with black headliner fabric after coating it with spray adhesive.

We reused the front and back panels- but also recovered them, too. All in all, we were happy with the results.

When it comes to redoing the wagoneer’s headliner, I am going to replicate the same process, but reinforce the wavy parts with fiberglassed metal to stop the sag.

Edit:

NOS vinyl floor is in- so is the bench seat.

Next up mounting the gas pedal to the floor. It’s already attached to the accel. cable and functional.

The brakes are finally done and dialed in. It was too late to test drive her tonight, so that’ll happen sometime in the near future. We drove it inside the shop forwards and backwards to ensure she would stop.

Image

Accelerator pedal is now a top priority so we can drive her for real. Of course I still need to at least wire up exterior lights to be legal.

Looking good. Where did you find the NOS floor mat?

BTW, the pie pans are on sideways!

One of the members was selling the vinyl, so I scooped it up.

Yeah, the plates might get fixed one of these days, hahaha.

Haha, thanks! He’s super excited; I’m just relieved.

My deadline for the last 16 things on the list is December 5th. That’s my neck surgery date. So having the lights, signals, and related, is a major relief.
