So this is pretty much it for now. The other side is done for tires and rims! I found out today it is actually a 4 speed! Must be a T98 with a granny 1st.

Can you come clean my windshield please? That thing looks brand new. Very nice looking truck by the way. Would have loved to have a project like that with my dad.
On Memorial Day, I'd like to thank veterans past, present and future. I served during the 1st gulf war, my dad served during Vietnam, and my grandfather served during WW II. I hope my son doesn't have to serve, but he will if necessary, just like the rest of us.
My grandfather and I went to Deep Creek, Wa. to see the Civil War Reenactment today.

Thanks! I am stoked. So is my son- When I got back from the civil war reenactment, he was ready to go out and work on it! We did! Minor stuff.
Then the neighbor blew a gasket and started yelling at me as I was cleaning. I got 1/2 of it on video... I debating whether or not to put it on boobtube.
Speaking of video: here's a link to me driving the truck around the block. My first YouTube video. Not bad for an old man!
Matching Factory color! The junk yard only had one, a very lucky find even if it is just one.
I fixed the rain gutter today and was cleaning up my stash o' parts on the side of the shop when nutso neighbor came to the fence screaming. Man, that guy is an asshat.

Looks good so far, especially driving down the street! Great project for you and your son. As for the crazy neighbor video - heck yes, post it! What was the problem?
The back story is: He's the guy that throws stuff into my yard, stands at the fence watching us like a creeper, tailgates us whenever he's behind us in traffic. I filled a police report on them when his wife came out and screamed at me for several minutes when I was planting a tree in the front yard.
As far as yesterday goes he threw about 3 pounds of his grass clippings onto my yard. I cleaned it up and started cleaning up that side putting parts over there and getting ready to tarp.
He has two 140' spruce trees where various squirrels/chimp monks and birds live. When the squirrels need a path, they break branches and those branches fall everywhere. Spruce branches fall with the breeze, too. I am out in the back yard, in my garage with the doors open, I see the branches fall all the time. I pick them up and throw them away in the garbage can. If they're dry, I put them on the wood pile for kindeling.
So apparently when the winds kicked up yesterday, and the squirrels where shoring up their nests branches dropped. He blames me. He seems to think that just because he throws crap into my yard, I retaliate. Who's got time for that? Oh yeah, the retired guy whose own daughter refuses to talk with him, or let him see the grand-kids. The guy who had to take all his business logos off his vans because of all the calls/complaints of his and his son's road rage.
I cut the shifting mechanism off the "new" steering column near the steering wheel and the shifting tabs of the lower part of the column itself. Then I applied a light coat of filler over the hole near the steering wheel, so now the sanding begins!
The steering column is of the 2 door wagoneer I found at the wrecking yard. The one in the truck sounds like it has something wrong with it, so it has to be replaced. I've been through the linkage and narrowed the problem down to the lower end of the column.

Thanks! That's what I am finding on the engine. I love how well it runs, especially after sitting for so long (since 03). 38k and change on the odometer, so only the jeep gods know how many actual miles there are. I wish there was a bit more documentation on the conversion, though.
We're picking up a set of bucket seats this week, built in seat belts. Now I have to find a decent center console that can double as a seat, cup holder and fits the space in-between the buckets.
