Center cap screws broken off in wheel

Post by Jasonjoli »

I just got my 1988 Wagoneer and most of all the center cap screws are broken off and stuck in the wheel. Has anyone had success with backing these out with one of those reverse thread bolt grabber tools - or will I need to send these out to be drilled and retapped?

I have had the same problem. I took the center caps off, rotated them to the next set of flats, and drilled and tapped a new set of holes. Be sure not to over-tighten them, they do have a tendency to brake the head off.

Looks like someone already did that and broke those off too! There was one I was able to do that with but the threading seemed different - or are they not threaded at all?
