Looking at these pictures of the base coat, I sort of wish I had gone with a mat clear coat finish.. Maybe next time. Roof, doors, tailgate, hood are painted and in process of sanding/polishing. We are getting there..

Mirror mounts showed up and look good!
Interior ABS cards showed up. They are still packed away at the house until it gets back together.
Trying to decide on matching the wheels to the semi-gloss black that the window trim pieces will get, or polished aluminum.
Considered blacking the razorbacks grill, but don't think I can bring myself to do it. It will get polished..
One day I will wake up and realize that my jeep is complete...one day, I just know it.

It is toyota Sunset Bronze Mica. Looks a lot like the old Alpaca Brown Metallic in the shade, but has a ton of pearl and metallic it it that sparkles slightly burn orange in the sun.

I was going to put the narrow stainless side molding and wood on the side, but have decided to leave it clean. All the exterior trim, door handles, etc. (including the razor grill!) are going to be semigloss black. The shop convinced me on this and i tormented over it for quite a while.

I am going to have to do something for the rain drip rails. The gap at the front is currently open. I may paint and attach the corner trim and leave it body color, or do something in black.

Haven’t made up my mind on badges as of yet.

The dash is from a 69 with mods.

I am 100% completely in love!!! I will be doing this exact same conversion but painting avacado green with the thin wood paneling strip. But my all time favorite colors are the browns. I've done 3 restorations in different browns but funny enough I toyed with doing this EXACT color on my last J10 Golden Eagle build, but instead went with the original Sable Brown Metallic. Great looking rig so far.

I was out at Page's today to visit. Things have really moved along!

They convinced me to go black on the trim. I wasn't sure, but when I opened the door and saw it, I knew it was a good call. They painted and cleared all of it, including the tail lights.

I made the call awhile back to mount the side marker lights without the angled thing behind them. Seeing them on the rig, I think it really works well.

The guys in the shop and I went a few rounds on the grill. I was not keen to paint one of the razors black, but decided to let them paint one and I would decide whether it stayed or the other one I have went on. I think it looks good and, again, really helps set off the paint.

A complete weatherstripping kit and a few extras are going in. They are putting a set of the '91 window regulators in (no more plastic flex track!).

The dash is a freakin' work of art! I literally stood there and stared at it, talked to the guys about various things, and came back to the dash..repeatedly.

Hopefully this link goes to my file of photos: https://imgbox.com/g/rNuIasKYrS

Here is the shop's new webpage. It is a little bit of a chore to get to the latest photos as you can't skip to the last screen..

Question .. Poll ... Wheels?

Post by jpswapmohn »

The wheels/tires on the wagoneer are just the 16" take-offs from my '06 GMC 2500HD.

So I have 2 sets of the Alcoa 17" Alloy wheels that were "special order" or whatever on the H2. They are not the typical wheels you see on H2's or swapped onto other 8-lug rigs. They are used, and I planned on using the best 4 on the wagoneer and the 5th best as a spare. I have played around with various center cap options and think I can make something work that looks decent. I just couldn't see paying crazy $ for swanky aftermarket wheels.. but that was also before everything that has been done to the rig.

The wheels look like this: (this is just a link I could find of the wheels) My wheels are currently boxed up and stored away..

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/for ... efront.jpg

So, now that all the trim, mirrors, grill are blacked out, I am not sure what to do for wheels. Polish up the Alcoa's and let them shine along with the paint while the rest is subdued? Paint the Alcoa's black to match up with the trim? Paint them some other color? Go out searching for something completely different? I am still not keen to pay $2k+ for wheels. I am happy at 17", would not go larger than 18". I am not a fan of 24's..just not my thing.

What are your thoughts?

I picked up these https://www.discounttire.com/buy-wheels ... 69/p/72819 . I think they look great and a good price. They are also light, only 16lbs.

Things to think about before you buy wheels. How much detail work do you want to do when you wash them? I hate rivets, small holes, creases and doo dads that are hard to clean. These are easy to clean....
