Roof Rack & New Rub Rails

Hope everyone had a great weekend?

So I am finally trying to install my stock roof rack (yes I am going to drill on my virgin no hole roof). That did not sound right did it?


Anyway ............................... So I looked and looked on the main site for measurements, or some sort of info on where the factory roof rack holes were and could no find a dog gone thing! ~x(

I did find Tads measurements on the different year racks, but that was not a lot of help. I even pulled the rack off of MR. Peanut, but soon saw that all of the holes were not drilled in the sam spots. So that was not a whole lot of help either.
So any of you aces know where the holes should be drilled?

In the mean time I did start cutting up the L Track that I bought last Friday. I will be installing it kinda where the rub rails on the roof normally go. I kinda have this grandiose idea that I will use it to install a safari rack above the factory rack. That way I can take it off when I am not camping, or hitting the trails.
So these are the components I bought last Friday.

There are left over pieces, and they fit perfectly bellow the rear windows, so I think I just found a cool tiedown spot for stuff in the back? I am not sure yet though.

That's one of the files I have been trying to locate since my ISP changed policy and took out all my doc's/files.
It's archived on CD someplace.
79-91 FSJ racks were all in the same position with the 77-78 years being a mix of both the later years and some placements that did not jive with the data collected.

I don't have anything with a rack here but if Bob can get the numbers of off P2 those will work, we installed a rack on that rig about a 4-6 weeks back.

I am also installing the trail dust deflector, but that I found the OEM instructions from Jaber on the other forum.

Dan and I are going camping this weekend, so we will see how the tie downs work out?

I used to have a little S-10 and when I went grocery shopping I would use a bungie cord between the two tie down points in the back. I would then just take the bungie cord through the bag handles and it would keep all my groceries from spilling out all over the bed of my truck. I would love to be able to do this with my waggy too.

I think the next thing I am doing to the inside of the truck is to build some storage cabinets that are equal to the wheel wells?
MeninBlack posted some pictures of a waggy limo that did that.

I really want an Expidition type waggy. I would love to roll up in Uray in a camping waggy some day soon.
Besides, since our little turkey trot last November, Dan is starting to warm up to going out on the trails. I am trying to take the city out of him a bit.

OH and my reworked dash should be done in the next week! So more changes coming soon.

Don't feel bad Dusty, by the time the roof rack thing was worked out I had 36 holes in my roof, all but 12 had to be welded up.

I just looked at this again while answering a bracket question for another member.



I think that hole spacing you have listed (32-35) should be 3.5" on center not 3".
I don't feel like driving to the shop to measure the roof there so:
How far is it from the rear edge of the body to the most rearward hole?
(measure from the edge of the trim please)
