OK... Has anyone done a new carpet kit with the 1/2" felt pad? We are stumbling on orientation of the front and rear seat floor felts.

Well, we are moving forward and cut to fit. Only 1/4 of the felt pad will be used. We did sound testing with different layers of stuff and decided to go with the factory rubber mat in the cargo area. The twice pipes sound mellower in the cab than that ride home from Tucson. The felt will go over the tranny hump in front and protect from the header heat. Rear floor, no felt pad. Ready, set, GO ~

I have made up 4 - 1oz batches of resin and glass fabric to patch the back end of the rear fender wells where the drains plug up for the rear quarters. That last batch started to melt my gloves before I got them off. #:-s

Winding down for Ouray, we have carpet installed with additional felt in the front only. We used the original rubber pad under the carpet in the cargo area. Since the frame is broke again on the driver seat, we have installed another set from a 75 we parted a few years ago. Got them duct taped and some cheap covers on. They both kind of lean on the inside and the drivers side has the spacer on the RR mount that Tad fixed us up with when we left Tucson with P2. Must be an AMC thing. We will have to rethink the seat solution. Dare we get something nice like Durango or Gr Cherokee seats? Door seals are back in with proper adhesive and fit better than the first time. The wheel wells are under coated. Took her for a beer run and she is much quieter on the road. So much we can now hear other squeaks and stuff. =))

Carpet looks great! Is there any difference in the sound, or have you gotten that far yet?

The inside is much quieter from the outside noises and 401 twice pipes. Before, when you stood outside and listened to the idle and then got inside with windows up, it was almost as loud as being outside. Now much better. :-bd

I just got the Ebrakes put together. Krista has had this Jeep 12 years and never had Ebrake because the PO torched the brake cable coming out of the cab to get to the tranny and tcase. The 78 cab has a good cable and we had been collecting various Ebrake cables out of rigs we part out. It is a little sticky up by the brake peddle so I got some PB Blaster to run down in the cable to help loosen it up.

Even though Krista has a beautiful Wagoneer with fresh paint, new tires and lots of goodies, it is still 35 years old and stuff happens. The drivers door window came off the lifter channel. I hope my shady tree work will hold. Went ahead and opened both front doors and lubed everything and silicone glued the glass back into the channel. ~x(

P2 made it to the End of the World Ouray FSJ Invasion to show off her new look. :-bd Krista took her on Red Mtn Loop, a "bunny trail" and discovered the tranny would not stay engaged for engine compression braking while in Low Range. It was a bummer but because of this, we will be taking her original tranny that has been shelved for 6 years with a bad tail shaft and get it rebuilt by a local tranny legend, Jeff Yoder of Yellow Jacket, CO. He built my 727 five years ago and it has been flawless.

Bob, I think the tranny in the back of P1 is the old one we swapped last May during the body swap. It should have a good tail shaft that could be saved. Casey may have something on those springs, they are not ours.

I'll send you our addy Jim. Super good to meet you in the mountains! Krista was telling me about your instrumentation. I might be in trouble on the J20 project and curious what you have in your truck.

I called Yoder and I can drop the tranny by Saturday. Looks like 2-3 weeks and it will be ready. :-bd
