$500 Super Wagoneer

Post by DustinLangston »

I have built several full-size Jeeps over the last couple of years. And I've gone back and forth on which ones I love most. But I finally decided I wanted to find a late seventies 4 door Cherokee with a manual transmission. I have been holding out for one for a couple of months now. But over the weekend I came across an ad for a 1967 Jeep Super Wagoneer. For $500...
I immediately started texting and calling the guy. It had only been listed for one day. I finally got ahold of him today. And he informed me that he had already sold it to someone out of state. I convinced him that it would be easier for him to sell it to me locally then to go through the hassle of shipping it. He agreed and sold it to me for $500. Now this is not a perfect Wagoneer by any means. The roof is almost completely gone at some point someone riveted steel to the roof to cover up the huge holes left there from rust. But where it counts on a super Wagoneer it has it. All of the trim is immaculate. And the center console is still completely intact. The bucket seats are destroyed but they're all there.
If the person that had originally bought this Jeep is on this forum I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to you for stealing your Jeep. I didn't want to screw anyone over but I really wanted this Jeep.
I will load pictures when I get home. I'm very excited for what's to come.

Sounds exciting! Makes sense that the roof would be so bad, seeing as how those had the vinyl(?) overlay on the roof which probably trapped water over the years.

Someone that thought they had a deal lined up is feeling sad. Hard to argue about twisting the sellers arm on a $500 Super Wagoneer though!

I actually tried to up the deal to $750 and he said he couldn't take that. He didn't feel the Jeep was even worth $500..... The center console alone was worth that much to me. Sorry it took me so long to get some pictures up but here's a few.

I don't really have any plans so far. I am currently finishing up a CJ7 (don't judge me for trying something new haha). But once it's done in a few weeks I have an AMC Eagle I'm supposed to start on. I'm really not even sure if this Jeep is salvageable. Has anyone replaced a roof before on here? I need to inspect the floors but I figure if the floors are gone too I will probably part this one out.

Wow, that is an amazing deal on any mostly intact Wagoneer, let alone a Super! Nice deal; what are your plans for it?

I would love to restore it but at this point I might be parting it out. The deciding factor will be if the floors are shot. I will have some time next month to dig into it. If the floors are gone it will be going up for sale as a parts vehicle. If I don't get any offers on it I will be parting it myself and putting them on ebay.

Yes I can but if I have to replace the roof and floors we are well beyond what this Jeep is worth restored.
Having a hard time justifying the restoration cost.
