First off this is my first waggy, my dad had a 76' cherokee as a kid and took us everywhere in that thing, from my first football game to my first hunting trip. EDIT: the other vehicle that I grew up in was a 6.2 gmc diesel duelly, hence the 6.5 diesel I picked up.So as I am getting to the age of having a family I thought of no better type of rig to make memories in. Now to introduce my waggy. Its an 86, waggy 360/727 dana 44's front and rear, 2.72 gears 2" lift, pulled it out of a guys yard, 96k on the clock, also an interesting note is that it was owned by the us government apparently as part of the forestry service, has government tags in the glove box.
You bet! I'm a Colorado native but spent 10yrs home ported in bremerton and Everett, followed by another 6 based out of JBLM and YFC. I actually lived up past Granite Falls for a big chunk of that. The wife and I get back up that way 2-5 times a year due to all the connections we still have up there.

I thought that standard on all grand wagoners. Also badging is different.
Also no wood. There were a hand full of "fleet" Grand wags that were ordered this way, most by GSA (for the gubmint, both federal and federally funded like fire and Parks departments) but a few private companies too. The only example I'd ever seen in person was an 88 being auctioned and still had the Union Pacific badges on it. That one had vinyl benches front and rear too.

Congrats on a very unique vehicle. That one is a rare bird for sure since most went to the scrapper rather than being sold as surplus. More than likely yours was a supervisor or agency director's ride as the worker bee types got base model cherokees and wagoneers with the rubber flooring, vinyl covered seats and no frills whatsoever.
PS: Did you have to pay extra for the bottle of wine?

The wine bottle holds up the hood release since its missing a spring. Was the closest thing thanks to my wife they are plentiful around

Those front shackles it came with are sketchy as anything! What are they made of, hardware store grade aluminum?
Cool to see you making progress. Awesome to have a nice big shop to work in! My dad has a shop with a 4 post lift but he's got so many classic cars now I start to feel like a valet boy just to go over and use it. Then better hope it doesn't rain while in there or I gotta be drying them off so they don't spot and ruin all the time he spent waxing all that single stage old paint haha. I got big plans to build my own shop with a 2 post and 15' ceiling. I have the space for it but that's an even bigger plan than my Jeep build so maybe it'll be built by my next project. Thankfully I have a barn but it's a little tight. Well it won't be too bad once I kick all the crap we've been hoarding out of there this spring.
