Cool to see you making progress. Awesome to have a nice big shop to work in! My dad has a shop with a 4 post lift but he's got so many classic cars now I start to feel like a valet boy just to go over and use it. Then better hope it doesn't rain while in there or I gotta be drying them off so they don't spot and ruin all the time he spent waxing all that single stage old paint haha. I got big plans to build my own shop with a 2 post and 15' ceiling. I have the space for it but that's an even bigger plan than my Jeep build so maybe it'll be built by my next project. Thankfully I have a barn but it's a little tight. Well it won't be too bad once I kick all the crap we've been hoarding out of there this spring.
Build a big shed to store your stuff! I built a 10x12' with a 4ft loft so the only stuff in my garage is car related. Shackles won't be re-used! The parts rig had oem shackles that i will use. Just got married a few months back so we will be finding a bigger house (bought mine when i was a 22 year old batchlor) i told her im not buying unless i get at least a 3-4 cars worth of garage.

Hah that's awesome! Yeah I have a 800 square foot barn, which is two floors. The second floor is completely empty and I'm trying to keep it that way so I can fix it up. The downstairs part is about 35% junk from our move, 10% video equipment, 5% materials that need to be refinished and installed back in the house, and the rest is taken up by my Jeep. At least I can park in there but I have to pull it out into my gravel driveway to do any real work on it. My 10x15 shed is soon going to be my "studio"! No junk allowed but a few pieces of "junk" furniture from the barn will go in there so that'll free up a little space to rearrange in there

Well after 3 sundays in a row I have got the new to me frame swapped into the rig. 5 of the 8 body bolts had to be cut so I replaced them with new bolts and made them accessible with actual nuts on them. Replaced my rubber fuel lines and tossed the front shackles. Looking at the springs. They are pretty torn up so I'm thinking of buying the rusty's 4in lift here soon.

Wish i had the means to change frames.. I've found 3 wagoneers so far in Junkyards.. all with BEEP bodies but the frames seem to always be mint.. And here is my wagoneer with a near mint body.. but BEEPY frame lol.. So i had to cut the bad peices off and weld new metal... its my only option.

Did you look at the frame where the rear cross member lays on top in your second picture ? The cross member that is in the rear of the gas tank. Look inside the C channle (passenger side) where that cross member sits on on the frame and body mount. Ive noticed the FSJ's tend to rust between the metals there. I would make absolutetly sure before you bolt it all back up..

Went to the portland swapmeet and bought a carpet kit and some other misc things from bj's off road

Picked up a 92' 6.5 gm diesel motor for a swap, (out of a 81 suburban all accessories seem to be 81', I assume a crate motor replacement? got a killer deal on this).

Then picked up a gm nv4500 with a 241 transfer case, Drove 450 miles after getting off work at 6pm to grab this trans

Hey guys, just re hosted my pics, and will be making a parts list on the first page.

I love being on forums like this so we can all share what we are building and knowledge that we have gained. so one of the problems i was finding is my nv4500/np241 uses and electronic speedo and obviously my jeep is cable. so after much frustrating research, I began to put together how to fix this issue.. enter my first in depth tech tip for you guys, this info is great for anyone swapping a 241 into a mechanical speedo truck OR vice versa.

Parts you need for a mechanical conversion on a chevy np241: (Luckily i had 2 useful transfer cases laying around.)

early dodge tail housing (mine came from my 94 cummins 12v that I swapped a manual in)
A mechanical speedo gear insert, mine came from my 86 wagoneer stock np208.

Dodge set up

8 bolts and two snap rings later, you cane remove the blue gear from the donor t case

so the early dodge used a mechanical speedo housing but actually used this odd sender.

So after tearing apart the chevy electronic speedo t case, you will find a metal ring for the abs like sensor for the speed, this comes off with just snap rings just like the dodge gear.

ImageIMG_8674.HEIC by nate irving, on Flickr

remove the gear and reassemble using the dodge gear and housing, insert speedo gear plug, i used the stock Chevy tail housing, i am not sure if its different but I am using the Chevy yolk so just o be safe i reused the Chevy tail.

bam, now you can hook up your stock speedo, I hope this helps someone as I could not find all this info in one spot in many hours of searching.

Hey guys!

Swap has been done and driving since July! The 6.5 and nv4500 work great! Had a custom exhaust built using stock manifolds. Put some used 31x10.50’s on, rough country 3-4” lift. Also added a 1” body lift for motor clearance as I actually reused 3 of the stock motor mount bolts. Also added a hydroboost via a stock suburban set up by mounting to the oem spacer and cut and threading the rod to accept the Jeep one. Put a sealed battery box in the rear for an extra battery. The np241c has a odd front output, the yoke won’t allow hardly any driveline angle, so since I had that dodge 241 around I used the drive Flange from that, which requires a 1/4” of the splines to be milled out for the weird Chevy shaft. Then had the stock cv dodge shaft cut down and used a conversion joint to get it to the front axle. Other then the main mods just working on getting the Jeep more wife friendly to ride in. Next is a rear door rebuild and needs gas tank filler hoses replaced.

Welp I haven’t been able to calculate it yet due to my filler hoses are leaky so I can’t fill the tank till I replace those, with the 2.72 gears and 31’s od is unuseable
