1988 Grand Wagoneer Diesel Isuzu 4BD1T Ford ZF5-42

Post by Adventure_Wagon88 »

More RuffStuff parts came today! Gotta figure out how I want to set up the rear shackles. That order also had the rest of the ubolts I needed so the front is finally locked down.

Both rear springs are mounted and the axle is temporarily in. I actually rolled it out of the shop for the first time in 6 months! Blew off most of the dust, cleaned the floor well, and rolled back in before we got any more rain.

I think the only other thing I accomplished on this was to get my oil filter bracket mostly done.

I’ve been cruising the 61 Willys on fair weather days!

Also this bumper and skid plate I built for my buddy’s Eurovan was keeping me a little busy. Really happy with how it turned out, used 10 gauge for the bumper and 3/16 for the skid. Surprised how light it is. Can’t wait to build the winch bumper for my Jeep.

Well, call me whatever names you like but I just cut a quarter panel and it wasn’t because it was rusty. I’m really happy with how this is looking! Looks like it’s where it needs to be at 5” back.

AWESOME! Love how you're not changing the wheel well so much as to impact the cargo area. This thing is going to be bad ass!

Thanks! That was a main reason I didn’t want to stretch the wheel base too much, I really like how this takes advantage of the space that is there without having to build a whole inner tub and sacrifice a ton of space back there.

Baby steps

Had to move the engine forward 1”. Nothing was final bolted and there’s plenty of room.

Progress has been slow but I have had a few victories recently. Steering is all built and connected, I also installed one of Tad’s braces. The turbo oil feed is connected (drain already was) and it gets oil. Working out power steering, hydroboost brakes, and hydraulic clutch now. Unfortunately I believe the clutch master is going to interfere with the stock fuse block so that will likely be moved or re-designed. This project doesn’t get any smaller!

I found a perfect fit upper radiator hose today, application is a WJ 4 liter, I cut some off both ends for it to work, couldn’t be happier with the fit. I struck out on the lower but I have confidence I’ll find something.

Looks like the last time he was active was Jan 22,2020, before the Beer virus shut down the country
