LS 5.3 swap '86 wags

Post by Mnguy »

Found a killer deal on an 01 5.3...harness and computer are from an 04... Has throttle by wire ..
Are there any red flags or problems I'm not picking up on without combing thru the site?

Thanks for being smarter than i am

I dont know much about the tuning end of it as I used everything from one donor. I think the 04 comp will work on the 01, the DBW will just be taken out of the tune if you are going to stick with the 01 throttle bodg.
I would talk to whoever you are going to have program the comp and make sure they are compatable. If you are going with DBW you will need a DBW throttle body.

Was the 01 drive by wire? If you are planning on keeping it drive by wire make sure you get the extra parts for that. If you plan on drive by cable for 04 you need to get an ecu that supports it.

01 should be cable, if it is from a truck.

Stock, as in jeep tcase? If so I would suggest using a GM manual shift case. Most use a NP241, which is what I did as well. They are plentiful, cheap and strong enough for most peoples use and abuse. It makes it a lot easier using the 241 vs swapping parts to keep the Jeep tcase.
