I have a leak. Every day I go back to the jeep there is a small but blatant puddle under the transfer case. What's weird is the leak isn't coming from the case halves or drain plug etc. it isn't coming from the rear output seal either. It actually looks like it's coming out of the rear yoke??? How is that leaking and how do I fix it? Zip off the nut and pack the shaft with rtv??
There is a seal in the yoke you need to replace if its leaking from that.. and no rtv wont eork lol. My guess 100% chance the rubber seal has turned to hard plastic. Thankfully i dont have to deal with that leak one of the previous owners had a shop replace that seal on my 229 in like 2010.
Anyway here is the part you need i believe. Get a seal puller from autozone or something. Makes life easier vs hammering it out with a screw driver like i see a lot of gorrilas like to do.. dap rtv around the seal edge and tap it in gently oiling the rubber seal of course before you put the yoke back in

That's the yoke seal which I don't think is the culprit. It may be but I'll have to take a much closer look at it either way. Guess I'll be pulling that DS back out... again! Haha
I just realized you probably have a fixed yoke on the rear of your transfer case. If so, and it seems the oil is coming out around the nut(paste the splines on the shaft/yoke), I'd suggest removing the nut and yoke, applying liquid teflon to the splines and reinstalling the yoke/nut. If the splines are clean with no sealer, there's nothing to stop fluid from coming out. The splines don't have 100% engagement, there are small holes between them. The teflon seals the holes, without gluing the yoke to the shaft.

J20, where do you get your Teflon paste? I used to buy Tef-gel from boat stores, but that was pricey stuff meant as anti seize for stainless screws into aluminum.

Yup. Some AD soldier at Ft Carson. He went 3" lift and 32x11.50s and had some rubbing. He was cutting wheelwells today and got done pretty early. Cool thing is he is PCSing (moving to the civilians here) to Ft Polk. Asked me if I wanted his old, factory wheels.... hell yeah!!
tires are just air holders but the wheels aren't horrible. The two not stacked belong to Walter and I got to cleaning them before I called it a day. So far they are cleaning up pretty good with some effort.
