How about assembly lube? RTV of choice? Quality wipes (lintless) and a surface cleaner/prep.

Help thinking out loud is exactly what I need! Going to make the final parts order tonight.

Don't have my rtv yet but it'll be coming from the parts store in person.

When ordering the parts, remember that often times the timing set provides gaskets and so does the water pump or oil pan (can't recall).
I always end up with a couple extra of something. Just no need in ordering them additionally if you'll get them in something else.

Progress! Intake is done save for riveting on the heat shield and getting it cleaned. Added up the labor i have into this turd so far, 12 hours! Geez! I'm buying an edelbrock next time.

Block is done! Picking it up thursday, though I should really cut work tomorrow and get it early. Don't think anyone can cover for me so I doubt that will happen.

Final parts order will hit the web in just a moment should arrive before it's time to stab the motor in.

Not all clovers and daisies though, I spent way longer than expected on the intake tonight. I NEED to get both heads disassembled and ported tomorrow night to drop off to the machine shop thursday or this thing won't be making Ouray. But there is still a chance to make Ouray in my jeep assuming no major slow downs or f-ups.

Hey man, how've you been? How's the homestead? Are you doing Ouray?

I'm going to make a few test trips in this thing before Ouray. I'm planning to make your place one of them if that's ok.

Things are good buddy! We are about to break ground on a cabin. I might be buying another property here soon and will talk to your mom if I do.

No ouray for me.

Ya man, roll over anytime! All the trails are open!

Y'all are more than welcome to camp out here on the property. Plenty of trails to explore and I have the shop loaded with tools and a 220v mig!

I may take you up on that one day. Been too long since I've tossed out a sleeping bag.
