Broke The lowest fender bolts in the door jamb on both sides and had to grind the head off one of the core support mounting bolts that goes through the frame, but other wise easy.

I'm going to have to, to get the motor out, just thought I could get it done without having to.

So out of curiosity... why not go ahead and pull the hood? Keep you from (maybe) smacking your noggin and lets you get crazy with cleaning all the stuff you'll wish you cleaned while it's apart.

Finally got some stuff done today.
Pulled the 230 out, cleaned up the frame a bit and checked the slave/bell/throw out arm configuration. Ran into a slight problem with the
"bolt on" slave, but I should be able to make a bracket to solve the issue.

Not quite a straight shot and the slave is at full extension, hopefully I can kill two birds with one bracket to bring the slave in line and closer to fully actuate the throw out.

Didn't have any bellhousing dowels but I found a piece of 1/4" pipe, it was the closest o.d. I could find. Hopefully will work out.

Got the T18/D20 mounted today, needs adjustment for the D20 shifter. Has anyone shortened shifter for d20. I'm guessing just loosen the tube nuts remove the linkage extensions and slide it toward the foward yoke and lock it all down again. I'll take some pics when I attempt. Seems simple but I've probably overlooked something.

Can you post a pic of what you're dealing with? I don't think it's too difficult to shorten depending on where it falls in relation to the dash.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the two nuts are actually threaded into the tube. I'm pretty sure you would have to drill and tap new holes for the bolts. At least that's how it was on my 79.

I believe he's trying to shorten the mechanism, not the floor lever.

You may have to twin stick it and go with aftermarket cable shifters to move it backwards

Thanks for the input,

CHERK. I'll drill and tap that tube. I knew I overlooked something.

Last weekend was the last real productive weekend I've had in a while , we've been getting some good rain lately. It's pretty nice when I'm at work though.
Good thing is the tranny is in my rig now so I might be able to work in the cab.

I was hoping to eliminate possible interference between the motor (om617) and my steering box and all the power assist lines hanging off the side of the pitman arm and was thinking I might be able to use the Mercedes P.S. box. Ill have to see if it's possible.
I don't plan on running anything larger than 31's so hopefully that box can push em.

Got the t-case shifter sorted out, and looking at the Mercedes p.s. box gave me an idea. ..
If I plumb the mercedes box I can keep my steering assist ram and get rid of all the lines from the pitman arm.

Just a thought, well see what happens.
