Got the plate, crank adapter and flywheel bolted up to om617 today. Still need some AMC hardware for the fly and pressure plate, probably check the Trans fitment next weekend.

The Benz fly is supposed to be balanced to motor.
I'm going to static balance the amc, it should be neutral but who knows.
The Mercedes stuff wasn't maintained by p.o. so that's best I can do for now.

Couldn't you take the AMC flywheel to a clutch shop and have them balance it to MB specs?

Yes I could, but it would only be helpful if I knew without a doubt that the mbz flywheel had never been removed previously. I marked it when I pulled it, but there is no evidence that the position had been maintained during past removal. I know that it has been apart at least once, possibly twice or more who knows. In an event such as this a static balance is best case scenario.
The other options are to balance match flywheels, then locate in one of 12 positions
or have new flywheel balanced to the engine/ rotating assembly.
If static balance does not prove useful I'd much rather just find another donor, that hasn't been apart yet.

Starter didn't fit so I had to radius the plate a little.

That mount is part of the 2 piece oil pan. Could still be used in a Mercedes but would require new upper pan. New lower too, by the time I get finished with it. Gonna have to notch it to fit over the front diff.
