Stuka, exactly! And thanks, I couldn't find any comparison videos anywhere on the net so I figured I'd just make one.
Jabber, I researched the micro gallons also, what concerned me was the latex paint as the bonding/substrate. I was worried about how long I'd have to wait before I could topcoat it, or if my urethane (or bedliner) topcoat would stay adhered over time. With LS its a water based acrylic that is flexible and doesn't need a primer coat (or scuffing) before topcoating. I read that entire thread on the hot rodeos forum, it was very informative reading. Using bedliner for the bonding /substrate possibly would have worked though. The cost savings would have been considerable though if it worked.
Trust me I understand limited budgets
. I bought all of my LS over a couple of months, from
http://www.donhart.com/. They had the best pricing of anyone I could find and saved me quite a few hundred dollars over summit or jegs. Also the guy that handles the web sales has personally shot it in his Xj, so he had experience and wasn't just a sales guy.
Rocklaurence, Yeah, wear was a concern of mine also, but I know I'm going to carpet the floor so I wasn't too worried about scuffing wearing it down. I talked to the engineer at LS and he was telling me about a spray on topcoat they will have available after the first of the year to address topcoating for wear and color. Do you have carpet? That sounds about right, I used 2 gal of each on the underside and engine side firewall, and 3 gal of sc on the roof, floor pan, sides, and cabin firewall. I haven't shot the doors, tailgate or insides of the rear quarters as I'm waiting till the bodywork gets done. I figure 1 gal will be pretty close to cover them. Anything that is added is more than was there from factory was my way of thinking.
Did you notice much of a difference driving?
