I was looking at my diesel Wag's front wheelwell and it's obvious that the 2" body lift I installed (for clearing the aux. fuel tank) will allow for a lot of air movement.
Unfortunately it'll allow a lot of water in there, too.
Welded two plates to a pair of vise grips one to each jaw then cut throught the hood with a 1/16" cutoff wheel and used the vise grips to roll the louver up...

You can buy them pre-made at the welding store. I have several different kinds in my tool collection.
Yeah but I'm cheap... I "borrowed" the vise grips from a guy at work then "found" the metal on a shelf at work then welded it together useing the welder at work. Total cost......... Nothing! :ymapplause:
Lifting the rear of the hood is an old drag racer's trick used to cool and reduce drag. I've been toying with the idea lately since my hood is out of alignment anyway. Might be good for clearing snow from the windshield too ... I have a buddy with a louver press and he said he'd install the speed holes for fifty cents each, so that's a thought as well.

Mine is out of adjustment also. The front needs to be adjusted down so it is tight. As it is now, it squeaks like a mofo.
To be honest, I have only seen a slight difference.

Good to know about lifting the rear of the hood. I got my squeak stopped a while ago but I picked mine up with a mangled RF fender and there is no gap between the "new" fender and the door and my hood rubs the cowl on the right side and is shifted about a quarter inch to the left. I figure that's a good reason to pull the hood off and let my buddy fill it with holes.

Oooooh, this is where the action is in the modifed tech section....
The NASA insulator looks good, I used heater pjoe insulation on the rerouted fuel line... of course it is rerouted as I have an electric fuel pump on both the 74 and the 85.

Any chance you could measure it? Other than the fact that it's flat and the SJ hood is kind of domed it might work. Maybe a TJ one that could be flexed enough to work on a SJ hood. I have an extra hood, maybe have to try it.
